Playa de Calafell

Reviewed By guestwithstandards - Spain

... especially when compared to Sitges. We moved our boat from Port de Sitges Aigua Dolce because the Marina there was open to the public, not very secure and crumbling. Port Segur is only a few years old - which must be why it has as yet no Trip Advisor page - and the Marina is clean, efficient, secure and reasonably priced. The same may be said of the Calafell coast in general and the beach around the Port in particular. There are Restaurants and Cafe Bars inside the port and along the Playa and a huge Car Park along the beach-side road fronting the port. This is pay to park as is parking on the road. The Marina has key card entry though additional gates. Secure and pleasant indeed.

Ciutadella Iberica

The Iberian Citadel of Calafell is one of the most remarkable archaeological sites of the Iberian times (6th to 2nd centuries BC) in our country due to its singularity. Its experimental reconstruction "in situ" makes the Citadel an appropriate place for all range of public in order to know how the Cossetan Iberians lived more than 2000 years ago.

Pau Casals Museum

This wonderful museum is a short drive from Barcelona but is also easily accessible by train so there is no excuse not to go. Pau Casals is to music what Picasso is to art and Gaudi is to architecture. The museum gives a comprehensive view of the great musician and the equally great humanitarian. While the museum appeals to all musicians and music lovers, his humanitarian achievements make this museum appealing to everyone. The added bonus is the the beautiful Sant Salvador Beach. After an inspiring and moving visit to the museum, we enjoyed Casals beach which is one of the nicest anywhere. Also the museum staff were very friendly and outgoing.

We visited beginning of September, it was not over-crowded, sand was quite clean (it's fine bright coloured sand), some beach volley nets are available, there are chirinquitos (small bars) with snacks and fresh drinks, over all recommended

Playa de Cubelles

We arrived in Cubelles on the heels of a big storm which carried sand and loads of seaweed well into the street. The Promenade along the shore was burried in debris brought by the huge waves. Within 48 hours, the city workers had cleaned the mess and brought the beach back to its pristine state. These Beaches are beautifully maintained, even off-season. Congratulations!

Perfeito!

Three of us went on - ages 52, 15 and 12- and it was great fun. Highly recommend. It was a 25 minute walk into the countryside on outskirts of Calafell. We headed in the direction of the castle but ended up having to cross a busy fast road..On the way back we found a tunnel that goes under the road ( much safer).

Cellers Avgvstvs Forvm

When we first planted our vineyards in the early 80s, we chose a unique place, just 3 km from the Mediterranean Sea at the “Pla de Mar”, where our vineyards now enjoy a very special microclimate in the DO Penedes thanks to the sea breezes which, due a process of thermical inversion, promote a correct grape maturation and its good health. These vineyards have an old tradition: between them there are remains of the most famous Roman way, the Via Avgvsta, that started in Rome and finished in the south of Spain crossing the most important cities of the Mediterranean coast. For all these reasons, we have wanted tribute to this Roman way, naming our winery and our wines Avgvstvs.

Marko was a great guide and educator. This is a Bordeaux type wine producer not really doing the Spanish varietal. Tasted a couple very good and nicely priced wines. Also making varietal and aged vinegars. Very different and intriguing. All in all educational and interesting...MoreDear Robert, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. I will share your comments with the team and, specially, with Marko. Hope to see you soon, Best regards
