The international terminal has airline lounges operated by All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines (oneworld) and Cathay Pacific Airways (oneworld).
I happen to be scheduled for ANA flight, priority seems to be given for taxy, take off and landing, which is great! There are plenty of restaurant which serves and behave as though they are from the edo era.
Facility wise, lifts, escalator, toilet, baby room, food, money changers, most of the things are top quality

For those travelling on business, the limoubus services are great. They provide reasonably priced door to door services to most international hotel chains. We found out recently that there is a cheaper JR (Japan Rail) operated express service that departs from major train stations which are equally good, of course you will have to negotiate your way to the terminal. A limoubus trip from Shinjuku to Narita will cost 3100 yen and a JR express trip from Tokyo terminal to Narita costs 1000 yen plus 194 yen from Shinjuku to Tokyo station. Similar one will be going to Ginza to take a limoubus.

A community park in Ota, Tokyo.
It has a large campground, sandy beach and dog run. There are enclosures for picnic and barbeque as well.
One can see the flights take off from Haneda Airport. Also, watch the movement of ships and vessels entering ports in Tokyo.
Take a Keikyu bus Mori32 (Jonanjima round route) from JR Omori-eki east exit, or Tokyo Monorail Ryutsu Center and get off at the bus stop Jonanjima 4 chome. From there ,3 minutes by foot from the stop.
Great views in the evening hours.

We received the New Year at this temple and really enjoyed it.
It seemed more accessible and less crowded than Sensoji temple and different groups of selected individuals were allowed to help ring the bell for the New Year celebration. Something we thought it wasn't possible.
There were many delicious food stalls with different food (yakisoba, potatoes, etc.) and hot sake.
I really recommend to visit during the New Year celebration.

When I fly to Haneda, I usually fly on Hawaiian Airlines, who flies into the International Terminal
I like Haneda airport since it's not a huge terminal and there are shops inside and outside of security. Make sure you allow extra time at the airport to grab a bite and peruse the stores for last minute omiyage like Japanese kitkats or Royce chocolate. There is the Edo Marketplace with some shops where you can buy souvenirs or some duty free stuff. This is convenient if you want to pack some things in your checked bags.
I would suggest buying the items that you really like, since although most things can be found after security, not everything is. There are also places to eat, sit down restaurant types with food ranging from ramen to sushi.
There's a shower room in the arrivals lobby on the second floor and a hotel located in terminal 2.
After you go through customs, you will find yourself in a long walkway with luxury shops, duty free stores and a small food court area. The walkway between gates is quite long; there is a cart that will shuttle people through the long walkway.
Although I've only been in the international terminal, I think it's a very pretty airport and well laid out.

We arrived at 5:30am to find not much open and a 4 hour wait for our transfer. The arrivals level was uncomfortably hot so after coffee we moved upstairs to the departures hall. It was cooler. After sometime there were adjourned to the upstairs Edo shops area....cooler still. Otherwise a perfectly satisfactory airport.

I think every time I go to this park it is Hanami (Cherry Blossom) season, as all the portable food shops are set up, and I eat way too much yakitori and yakisoba. Anyway, I've always preferred the "small town" sort of feel of Sensokuike to the larger Ueno park, any time of the year...
Sensokuike is a great place to sit, have a small picnic, drink beer, and enjoy the scenery.
Of course, the 7-11 convenience store is right at the station, so your picnic items can be purchased when you arrive!! One trip around the pond is just 1km, so I recommend walking it at least once.
There is a yakitori chain shop with a red sign (Daikichi I think it is called) on the same side of the street as the train station, so go in there if you feel like going to an izakaya after the park.

Like any international airport Haneda can get a little bit tiresome with hoards of screaming kids, rude pushy tourists and just too much noise.
Lounges are the standard escape for those lucky enough to afford them.
The JAL lounges at Haneda Int compare well to other lounges. They are close to the departure gates, are quiet and relaxed places, are clean, have polite attentive staff, have a broad selection of complimentary drinks.
Only down-side is the choice and quality of food, it felt like you'd turned up late for breakfast at economy business hotel - not much to choose from and what was there was not very appetising.
Shame...

Haneda Nihombashi offers a scenic relaxing escape for those with some spare time at Haneda Airport.
The area can be accessed from the departures level via an escalator located between the Royal Park Hotel and the departures entrance. There is a lift for wheelchair access.
There are an interesting selection of wall murals depicting old Edo - although modern they are very attractive. It leads to a pavilion in decorative Japanese style. There is a Seating area and artificial foliage gives an autumnal impression. There in the midst of the airport is an area of seclusion and tranquility. Very innovative and truly impressive.
Worth a rest if you have some spare time at the airport. There is also excellent wifi , so you can relax and chat if you like.

If you have a few hours before your next long haul flight, Ota is the nearest town to Haneda and look around at local culture. it's a 3 mins walk on the back of Main Street where JAL Haneda and Mystays Haneda are located.
On the morning they were stalls selling stuff like rice cakes etc but I have no idea if these stalls operate only on certain days.
The fox shrine and look around should take you no more than 15 to 30 minutes depending on what you really want to see eg tori, drinking well, shrines and a temple.
besides this temple, the back street would give you a glimpse how locals live. Have fun but don t expect an Asakusa temple here.
