Having seen the changes over many years in particular the restoration work. it is very peaceful place but hard walking uphill. A little gallery there but not sure if any refreshment yet there. The Skalka church has it's history and has survived, almost clamped together! Just sit on the bench and look at the view!

This Gothic castle was built in 1348, as a stronghold for royal treasures, especially Emperor Charles IV's collection of holy relics and the coronation jewels of the Roman Empire.
My partner and I visited Karlštejn castle during our Christmas stay in Prague. It was a nice half day trip. It is very easy to go there by direct train from Prague (it takes 40 minutes).
We bought a tour "Historical Interiors of the Emperor’s Palace and the Mariánská Tower" in English. Admission was 330,- CZK per person. The interiors were not so rich furnished as in other Czech Castles. But the castle was really monumental and it worth visiting. Takeing pictures without flash is allowed and it is free.
There were a lot of restaurants and shops in town Karlštejn. Most of them were open even through Christmas holiday.

Mala Morava is a small bar in the 'village' (population 12,000!) of Revnice in the Czech Republic. We were visiting friends in the village for a week and this became our place to meet in the evening. The staff were very friendly and spoke enough English for all of us to be understood!

Short and informative bus ride, air conditioned! St. Vitus Cathedral was breath taking. So many things to take in. Prague Castle was an amazing view into history and learning about medieval life and history. Loved it! Sometimes hard to hear the guide but she had tons of great information.

Before going there...get informed! It is really amazing place. And not just one, there is at least 3 quarries (open-pit mines): Velka Amerika, means Big America, then Mexiko, means Mexico and finally Mala Amerika, means Small America. All of them fantastic, in the forest, great nature. The "only" problem is they are closed and not accesible, just now it is a private property, so be careful. If you enter and they catch you, you will be fired and probably fined! And of course, to enter is not any easy, you have to climb down and there are real rocks, so it is potentially very dangerous. But even so it is worth of visit, i think. I did so and i was not disappointed. Just be really careful.

I recommend visiting Dobris during summer time - all Fountains will work and it surely adds a kind of charm to the look of this nice palace. Nethertheless the palace and especially its park is awesome place for strolling and spending pretty nice time during spring and autumn! Unfortunately this splendid park is closed during winter time.

We came to old factory house, so the first impression was "o-oh"...than we came in and the fun started. We created a team, got instructions and started to play the game. Step by step we opened secret boxes with symbols and getting to treasure... some of the rooms we tries many tiems to win, some of them the kids simply liked that much, that we repeated just for fun. Some we didnt win at all. We had two young people with, that helped us a lot with the sport disciplines. Finaly we got to the treasure, won a bottle of champaign, and enjoyed it in the nice place on the inside "beach" and spent restful night in the inside beach houses... breakfast followed. Perfect!

Great place and friendly stuff. We rented Bayliner 195 (bow rider) and had a great time going to Prague. We saw everything. City as well as country side. Good value for our money, thanks.

Svatý Jan pod Skalou is very small village in Central Bohemia, at about 30 kilometres out of Prague. The dominant of thus village is a big rock and Church of St. John the Baptist just under it. There is an ancient history about hermit Ivan. You can visit his cave, it is a part of the church now. Also drink the powerful healing spring St. Ivan. It is tasty and very healthy. Lot of people in comming here with bottles for water. After the visit, walk up the rock above. It will take 25 minutes. You can meet many families with little kids to go up. But few parts are little bit difficult. At the top enjoy an amazing view to the countryside or down to village with church. Stay under the big cross, this you can see from the village, and relax, it is a fantastic place for this. You can eat in restaurant Hotel Obecná škola, only 200 metres away from the church. They have a good food and it is the only one option to eat in Svatý Jan pod Skalou. To come to this village is easy by car from Beroun. You can also walk from Beroun on the red tourist way, it is only 5 kilometres in the forrest. It is possible to come also on bicycle, but it is up and down enough. In this part of Central Bohemia, take your time to visit the castle Karlštejn, caves in Koněprusy, the town Beroun or the museum of mining in Chrustenice. Everything is maximally 10 kilometres out of Svatý Jan pod Skalou.

"Medvědárium" (the-place-where-the-bears-are:-) is located on the hill Městská hora. Park in nearby streets or just walk from the city centre to reach the bears (they are popular for casting in Czech tales for children as cubs). Here you can have some refreshments and kids enjoy big wooden playground under the trees. Also take a short hike to the watchtower on the top of the hill. Best place in Beroun (except from the micro-brewery Medvěd).
