Spoil yourself in the 10 thermal baths (from 28°C to 43°C) and treat yourself to the wide range of spa facilities at the Leukerbad Therme in Leukerbad (1,400 m above sea level). Enjoy the rejuvenating thermal water, rich in minerals, from our private Springs in the midst of an impressive mountain world.
Nice place where to spend few hours and relax. Always very crowded. You can find internal and external pools, water slides, sauna, bar and restaurant, disposed on 4 floors.

The Leuk castle inside is empty, only wall are remained. The locals tries to keep the complex for some activity, such as rock Concerts, don't know effect of those attempts. But the historical center of Leuk is authentic and interesting for walking. All trail is half an our, with old buildings, narrow streets, and views on valley and Mountains.

Hidden in the Bern countryside half way up a mountain (literally) is the touristy village of Adelboden.
It's an all year round attraction - hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. It caters mainly to Swiss families who have been visiting for generations.
There are bars, cafes and cake shops galore as well as sporting shops and a good size coop supermarket.

Oeschinensee is accessible by foot from Kandersteg within 1.5 hours. The cable car operates in summer and winter season daily from mornings till evenings - non stop. In summer enjoy swimming in the lake, boat rides on the blue and clear water or just have fun with the toboggan run at the top station of the cable car. Several hotels around the lake offer rooms in summer. Restaurants are open in winter and summer. The region belongs to the Unesco heritage Jungfrau-Aletsch.
We visited Oeschinensee in mid-October, and were lucky to have a clear sunny day. We took the train from Thun to Kandersteg early in the morning to beat the crowds (which was a good choice), and then got the cable car up to Oeschinensee as soon as it opened. We walked down to the lake from the cable car, and walked all around the area for a few hours to admire the amazing views. Then we headed back to do the toboggan run (it was great fun!) before heading back down to Kandersteg. I would definitely recommend for a day trip!

Stretching from the Rhone valley (altitude: 500m) to the Plaine Morte Glacier (altitude: 3,000m), Crans-Montana is a sunny region with a breathtaking view over a string of mountain peaks that unfold from the Dufourspitze to Mont Blanc via the Weisshorn and the Matterhorn. With its lakes, Forests, glacier and vineyards, the region has something to offer every nature lover. Sports fans, too, will be delighted to discover a large array of amenities dedicated to sporting activities, whilst cultural devotees will enjoy the wide range of museums, events and festivals. In fact, Crans-Montana combines all the benefits of the urban lifestyle within a mountain setting, with a wide selection of eateries ranging from mountain huts to award-winning restaurants, numerous boutiques and shops, a wellness centre, a variety of entertainment and a vibrant nightlife.
Crans and Montana are neighboring communities connected and shared by the little mountain lake. There are nice little outdoor cafes, restaurants with sidewalk Seating and this place was rather hectic during our fall visit. There was a show horse event in town during our stay, which was free and open to the public so we went down briefly to check it out.During the Swiss National Holiday there were fireworks set to music over the mountain lake.
The place is even more popular during the winter season as the skiers take over the town. The ski lifts are very close and within walking distance and once at the top there are more connecting trails along the ridges and a large lounge with openair patio.
Crans-Montana is a somewhat exclusive resort town for those that love to ski and/or love to be pampered. .

Rafting on the Rhone with Valais Wallis Adventures was fantastic. We were a group of seven - ages from 5 years old to 72 years old! Three adults and four kids.
We were well looked after, safe at all times and everyone said it was the highlight of their holiday.
Do not come to this region without experiencing the alps and the valley floor from this unique angle.

This is an intense 8 hrs of harnessed climbing, lots of ladders. Spectacular views of Leukerbad, you can even see down to Leuk. When you get to the top you hike across a glacier and hike down the back of the hill to the gemmi pass cable car where you started from. Do your research and don't attempt this unless you know what you're doing/have significant experience rock climbing or mountaineering. You can rent the klettersteig/via ferrata harness sets and helmets at the top of the gemmi pass when you get off the cable car.

This is a moderate hike with a good combo of both ascending and descending climbs. Be sure to take water with you! We took bus from the Kandersteg Bahnhof (free with hotel discount card) to the Sunnbuel lift and then over to the Gemmi pass. We saw all ages of hikers, strollers, and wheelchairs along the way. As a novice hiker, there were some tough up hill climbs but nothing insurmountable, especially with my hiking poles. We stopped at the Wild Struebel above Leukerbad for lunch and a Cardinal before taking the lift down into town. This is a stunning place for photos. If you have a Swiss Pass, you can have a 50% discount on the lifts. We then took the bus to Leuk, train to Visp, Brig, then back home to Kandersteg. Beautiful views all the way!

Sehr sehenswerter Weinbetrieb.

We elected for the Roman - Irish Spa treatment where you go through a series of very relaxing nude, yes naked, treatments like saunas, steam baths, and thermal pools designed to cleanse and restore the bodies natural health levels.
It was my first experience and I am going back next year.
By the end of the two-hour session, you feel absolutely completely revived, even if the last plunge pool took my breath away so much I could hardly speak.
Not to be missed
