The Ermitage is a fantastic restaurant. all of their meals are of very high quality. Dinner is served with bread and local butter and cheese, which are really wonderful. My personal favorites are the Blausee trout, sausage with rosti, and the desert sampler. Be sure to have the salad bar with your dinner as well. Just a heads up; the windows are not screened and there are frequently flies buzzing around. This has never bothered me, but may bother some.

Very nice restaurant. Tipical old house with personell dressed with charateristic clothes. Good food: roesti with raclette cheese; bread with ham, cheese and egg... Suggested apple cake and cafè Lutz just to collapse ! Around 35 CHF per person without wine

We ate dinner and breakfast here while staying overnight. As hikers passing through on the Via Alpina, this was an excellent place to enjoy good meals before tackling the Hohtürli pass the next day. Although during the day you can dine outside, our meals were served inside (in a very pleasant, bright and traditional room with mounted heads of ibex and chamois on the wall) because it was too cool to be outside (we ate dinner around 7 pm, and had breakfast at 7 am). Our dinner was excellent: a joint of meat, a mixed salad, bread, vegetables, dessert. We were offered seconds on several items. Breakfast was the usual Swiss buffet, with unusually good gipfele (croissants). From the windows, we looked out on the lake and the Mountains. In the evening and early morning, the area is extremely quiet (the day trippers have left for the day).

Entertaining guests is our passion. We love hearing that our guests are satisfied. We pride ourselves on personal and friendly service. We enjoy working and having fun with our team of many years, and hope our guests can sense this. We use regional ingredients whenever possible. Our lamb comes from our own organic farm, and we use Swiss meat for our pork and veal dishes. Most of our vegetables come from the Bernese Oberland and Seeland. We really value sustainability and ecology. We bake fresh bread, strudel, fruit tarts and much more every day. For our bread, we use white spelt flour and our 10-grain house mixture. The fruit and chocolate tarts are also made of spelt flour. You can be sure that we make everything ourselves if possible. Our restaurant is located directly on the hiking trail of the Via Alpina 1 (Alpine Trail 1) and the Bärentreck (Bear Trail). Only a few meters away from the Oeschinensee, our panoramic Terrace offers a terrific view into the UNESCO World Heritage Site

We stopped in Kandersteg for lunch en route between the Valais and the lake of Luzern. Two grandparents, mother and her two small children. We were looking for something simple with things that the children would eat (difficult that!) and the Alpenblick was on our way. We were greeted warmly and without asking the waitress immediately brought colouring books and pencils for the children. Much appreciated!!
Food was simple and tasty. The Rösti was delicious. Additional syrop was brought for the children without our asking for it. (Children drink syrop grenadine and water...) The price was moderate - good lunch, drinks, coffees for under 100frs.
Next time we take the car-train to Kandersteg we will stop there again.

We went for chocolate fondue after dinner elsewhere. The server brought cold chocolate fondue which we thought would warm up but never did. We tried to get the attention of 3 different waiters to resolve, all were very rude. A complete tourist trap.

A Steine is equivalent to a pint for the British. Try the wheat beer and other local beers.
If you are in a group you can pay for your share separately. This pub/tavern closes certain days, these are usually displayed on the door.
The waitresses speak some basic English.

Went for dinner there on Valentines Day. Service was faultless and pleasant dining area. However, the meal was a disappointment with the description far outdoing the product.Dear Margaret M We are very sorry you haven't been satisfied with your meal on Valentines Day and hope to convince you of our quality on another occasion. Best regards

We have passed the hotel Adler restaurant on numerous occasions and sometime eat outside, we didn't realise there had been a brilliant refurbishment of the inside. The setting is very modern but romantic lighting is lovely, everything sparkled.
The waiter was very kind and very attentive to a three non Swss speaking visitors.
We chose starters of a Thai curry soup, a boulion soup and a salad - the curry soup was fantastic. For the main course we chose the Wildstruble option - melt in the mouth steak with vegetables and rosti potatoes. The other option was a strongronoff but with potatoes rather than rice.
We were very pleased with our experience and will certainly return if we come back to Adelboden in the future.
