Once upon the time around 1990 there was a master confectioner who thought that all the existing chocolate creations on the market are simply a little bit too boring. So after business hours he started to explore in the quietness of his company’s back room...
I had the most delightful time touring the chocolate factory. It was welcoming and clean. It was so much fun to taste as much chocolate as one might want. I was impressed by the fair trade chocolate, the organic production and the large variety of chocolates produced. It should be noted this is not a tour for handicapped persons as there are many many stairs to climb. Loved every minute of the tour. Do not miss.

Nice location for events as they organise medieval time themed events with knights and craftsmen show, music, sharpshooting, etc. But the castle itself has little to offer as a sight. They have about 5 rooms which are open to the public to see and experience castle life as in the other part of the castle the family still lives.

Vulcano Ursprung will take you to the origin of taste and show you the world of smoked ham as a sensory realm - with information and experiences embedded within a unique ambience filled with enjoyment. On three stories and across 1.000m², visitors to the world of the finest smoked hams will be captivated as they learn everything there is to know about the secrets behind these nobel delicacies, secrets they can learn first-hand on tours through discrete areas of production, processing, and maturing techniques: From the large smoked ham made of stainless steel at the entrance to the welcoming lobby, the arcadet sidewalk, the pig stalls, and the regional assortment of delicacies to the one-of-a-kind room designed to stimulate your senses with creative exhibits and swinging smoked hams. The adjacent smoked ham bar, the specialities store, and arched cellar area ensure that everything here will appeal to your palate. As a particularly interesting "extra" visitors will be greeted right at the beginning by Vulcana, the symbol of Vulcano, designed and painted by Dominika Kalcher, and whose story can be heard in a film narration by Folke Tegetthoff. The sensory nature of the information will surprise your eyes, ears, nose, and will certainly serve to prepare you for the right taste. Enjoy the origin.

We went there after Reading the comments on TripAdvisor. Finding the place can be a bit tricky though. The old lady was really sweet and somehow fitting to the history of the machine. She explained the parts and what his inventor wanted to express. Once the colorful machine is turned on it makes all sorts of noises and lights. A unique machine!

à la LoipersdorfThat is the combination of the three pillars “let go”, “experience” and “strengthen” to one unique life balance concept, which you will find nowhere else but in Loipersdorf. And you can feel it throughout the entire resort. The thermal resort Loipersdorf includes five hotels, located directly by the thermal Springs, a conference center, a golf course, a fitness studio and one hundred partner companies within the region. Everywhere you go, you can enjoy life freely, following our motto “let go”, “experience” and “strengthen”. “Let go” to achieve mental strength, “experience” through sports activities and fun, and rounding it all off “strengthen” yourself with healthy nutrition. All together, this makes up the life balance à la Loipersdorf. It is based on the concept that we can only live a balanced and healthy life if we ensure that these three pillars are in equilibrium. And the thermal resort Loipersdorf will support you in achieving just this balance! Within the resort you can enjoy the variety offered by two thermal spas, the “Lebenstherme” and “mein Schaffelbad”. We are also well-known for our spectacular sports events. A highlight of each season is our Loipersdorf trophy. We’re talking mountain biking here. Wind and weather, rain and snow. Yes, well OK, that bit about the snow is a fib. But still – whether off-road, uphill, downhill – professionals and amateurs alike hiss through the region. And there are some spectacular jumps and exciting duels. The resort also includes a true runners’ paradise, in which you can discover the region either in groups or by hitting the trails on your own. Thanks to our size, there is enough room for everybody, as well as for all the adorable little odds and ends you will come to discover here. In the thermal Springs, but also in our region, where you can actively enjoy the breath-taking landscape and whet your palate on hearty regional specialties. We love this region and its traditions and we know that this spot on the face of the Earth provides us with strength and energy. You will see: we have a very special Loipersdorf spirit, like to laugh a bit too loud every now and again and brim over with wit and charm.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Therme Loipersdorf is the Nr 1 in the region for a full day of hot spring and water park activity for the entire family. We tried H2O, Radkersburg, Blumau, Waltersdorf .. Its a favorite for locals so German is almost a...MoreThank you very much for your detailed and keen feedback and your recommendation for our thermal spa. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and the wide range of activities we offer. We hope to welcome you soon again in Loipersdorf.

This massive fortress has stood since the early 12th century.
As you approach the castle you understand why one or another sort of fortification has been in this location for thousands of years. The high block of granite in the middle of undulating fields obviously begged for something like this, especially given the embattled nature of the area. OK and yes I love the fact that a woman had such a critical role in expanding and defending this castle - and an uppity, self-confident woman at that. Can only imagine the obstacles she had to overcome to rule over a castle in her own name in the 17th century? Apparently she was quite a famous local eccentric - went through three husbands - fortified the castle during the Turkish invasion into a structure that was termed the "most impressive fortification in Christendom". On a less cool note, the castle also hosts an exhibit about witches and their persecution, also in the 17th century. One victim was the wife of the castle caretaker, who apparently knew about healing plants and was known as the "flower witch." Could not find out if she was killed, only that she was accused...a sad chapter. Important to know: if you are not up to the steep climb, there is a gondola to take you up.
