Don't miss this part of Collioure and bring your camera! Don't forget to look up, window boxes, flowers and laundry. There are art galleries on several of the narrow pedestrian only alleys and streets. There are some very good restaurants to be found there, but check Trip Advisor first and to avoid disappointment, the best ones need a reservation.

There are several ways to hike up to this fort, or you can take the tourist train from town. The trail my husband and I took up was a rugged dirt path - a bit easier going up than coming down. Beautiful views along the...MoreTo get to the Fort, you have to go through some wild lands, it is the magic of the ascent. We noticed that we did not have a book in English. We will do the necessary. Its a bit of a climb to the old windmill. Once you get there there is not much to see externally. The views down to Collioure are fantastic.

We loved wandering around this historic and almost intact castle that is so much part of Collioure. It really conjures up images of previous times and offers some stunning views of the town and Mountains. We enjoyed our visit and would have enjoyed it even more with a little bit more information in English. Our French is ok but was quite challenged by some of the Info boards

It is a quick visit, but still the most fascinating one in the beautiful village of Collioure. It's very interesting to know about Machado's life, and what he still stands for, and of course Reading his poems. Going to that old graveyard is one of those things that make you feel small and insignificant, and that make you feel utmost respect for such a man.

Great by day or night this little harbour has many great views. Little fishing boats bob at the quay & you may on occassion see the French special forces boys training.

I cycled up from Collioure on a warm April morning. I will hike up next time because the path looks more fun than the road. You can drive most of the way if you prefer but you must park and walk the last bit because cars are not allowed. Take some water and whatever else you might need because there are no shops or other facilities. I would describe it as a place for travelers, not tourists.
The inside of tower is not accessible, but the view from its base is incredible - miles along the coast to the north, taking in several towns, and to the hills of the Spanish border to the south. You look down on the local towns of Collioure and Argeles, etc. and really feel on top of the world.

After sitting on the waterfront enjoying a cool drink why not take in a little history to find out what made Collioure, Collioure. The answer being anchovies, not the anchovies you are familar with but true honest anchovies that taste fantastic. Enjoy the film and watch the preparation.
