An absolutely beautiful marvel of human ability ~ part of this magnificent and historic bridge is connected by boats. Fascinating. There is a theory that says if you went to Chaozhou without visiting the bridge, you cannot say that you have been to Chaozhou and it is so true!
A must see!

The hike from Fenghuang town to the Tian Chi Scenic Area is long, about 20km and takes about 4-5 hours. It's a good hike but don't carry too much and bring enough water to last you. There's a few nice scenic spots on the way up and don't be afraid to venture off the road a bit for a better look at something. Not all the best views can be seen right on the road.
Once at the top you can pitch a tent and stay the night, have a fire, eat, relax, and enjoy yourself (not much else to do up there at night). If you stay the night make sure you get there before sundown so you can set up your tent because there's no light up there at all. If you're lucky you'll have good weather in the morning and get a nice sunrise and a chance for some nice photos.
Be sure to bring some clothes for cool weather. I was on the mountaintop on 27 Sep and at night it cooled down to about 6-7C and was pretty windy. Morning was perfect, warmed up, no wind and fairly clear skies.
If you want to see a place that most foreigners will never visit, then Fenghuang is a good place to come and enjoy yourself.

The temple appears to be built in two phases - an ancient phase with a recent extension. The stone carvings in the ancient portion appears eroded but still are magnificent.
The temple opens into many courtyards which leads to other worship spaces. We were there for about three hours just taking photos and soaking in the atmosphere I have a suspicion we did not visit all the courtyards.
Please take note that photography is not allowed in certain pets of the temple.

A nice park to take a morning stroll, as many locals gather here to exercise, practise their Chinese martial arts and even classical Chinese music performance with string and wind instruments. Beautiful Gardens adorn with blooming flowers and five small man made Islands as you enter through a magnificent Chinese architectural gateway.

A must visit when in Chaozhou. The wall and the city within is interesting. Lots of shops selling local stuff and shops selling food stuff and souvenirs. The arches on the street represent each person from the city that managed to pass their exams to join the imperial palace.
Walking towards the gate of the walk, you will come to the Hanjiang river where there is a nice boulevard to walk along the river. There is also a bridge to cross the river.

Built in 1189 on a hill overlooking the river to respectfully commemorate a Tang dynasty philosopher and philanthropist (Han Yu) who was exiled from Xi'an to Chaozhou for eight months.
