It has been a very confusing experience to dine in this place.
First of all, the goose liver is prepared so nice. The taste and texture are creamy and full of flavour. No doubt the best goose liver I've had in China. The goose blood jelly is also very nice. Oyster pancake, beef meatball soup, fried shrimp roll are all tasty.
The trouble part is on the main dishes. Chicken wing stuffed with shark fin is considered as very delicate dish but was fried too deep. The oil smell outdoes the ingredient flavour. The streamed pomfret is not fresh. It's very confusing that a restaurant could make appetisers so good but the main dishes so poor.

We had several dishes for dinner. Some were excellent. Such as teochew style braised goose meat, liver and feet. Quick fried thin shell clams and egg oyster omelette were also fantastic. But the others like fried sweet potato leaves and fried rice noodles (kuey teow) were oily and flat. Therefore it boils down to the ability to know what is good there and what is not.

旅程的食記地點,來到了潮汕區最繁榮的城市,汕頭。在汕頭的第一、二餐,容後再說,是次是我們行程的第二天,由潮州回到汕頭的晚飯,那一餐,沒有傳統團餐多菜少肉的飯餸,而是一圍一圍的火鍋,天未黑,團隊就帶我們來到這一個名叫《福祥李牛肉館》的餐廳,包箱房,食潮式火鍋。
火鍋,我們廣東人稱為打邊爐,最簡單的湯底,就是蘿蔔清湯。說真,打邊爐用什麼湯底其實不重要,最多只是辣與唔辣,不過,食潮式火鍋,而且是一個以牛肉為主的火鍋,要食到牛肉的原味,我個人覺得,清湯是最好的。
人多,耐性不會好,不一會整個清湯已變成什錦湯,而且湯是越煲越濃,是漸漸的,把我們的肉丸、牛肉,蔬菜精華集結於一起,可以說是越滾越有味。
來到潮汕一帶,幾乎餐餐都有丸,有美味爽口的牛丸,也有爽口的牛橫隔膜,兩者都味濃,兩者都爽口,單是牛丸,己令人吃不停。
牛肉是今餐的主角,不過我們吃的不是什麼美國肥牛,而是潮汕當地的黃牛肉,當地的牛種,只在當地發售,我們在當地食,味道是份外的鮮,是日我們有兩款牛肉,一是深色一點的黃牛肉,另一是普通一點的肥牛肉,兩者皆味道濃香,是我們打邊爐的主角,加上導遊說牛肉是任食,我們一檯10人,消化了四大碟的牛肉。
牛扣,是牛的喉嚨,少到火鍋專門店飲食,是很少機會會吃到這些牛特別部位的,這一個東東,爽口,味道只實是來自火鍋的湯汁,但口感特別,是一個會令你想試多一次,試多幾次的食品。
牛腩,是火鍋外另加的食物,然而,大家都知道,潮州人做牛腩有一定的水準,這一個不是濃湯牛腩,也不算是清湯牛腩,半濃半清的湯,充滿了牛肉味同蘿蔔味,味道很正,而牛腩的本身,並不是很肉感的頂級牛腩,入口帶筋,但夠腍,肉味濃香,已經是人人叫好。
蠔餅,這一次潮汕行,幾乎餐餐都有蠔仔烙的出現,那一家正宗,那一家較好食,說真,在這三日的行程中,我早已經麻木了,總之,讓我吃得出是鴨蛋的味道,食後唔會成嘴油,已經是很好。
普寧豆腐,是我最愛的潮菜之一,外層脆,內裡滑,點汁,增添香口,不點汁,完美地感受到脆嫩於一身,其實味道清清的潮州菜,我更喜歡。
潮式炒麵,這是一個有肉碎的肉食版本 (是晚太太另有一碟素食的),豆豉味香,感覺濃郁,豉味亦均勻地沾上麵條及蔬菜之上,令今餐的我不想吃飯,吃麵更好。
這一餐潮式火鍋,完全沒有令任何人失望,然而,這一餐5點多就開始食了,在眾人都未餓之際都吸引到大家去火拼檯上所有食物,事實證明了,這一餐,好食,大家抱住食多D既心態來,擦肥牛。

The shop is located in the old city area.The decoration inside let you taste the style of 1960's.They serve dry noodles (without soup)with home made sauce together with some slices of marinated pork on top. Worth a try.

It is one of the older restaurants of the city located on the sea road (Haibin lu) with certain private rooms overlooking the bay area. The food is excellent. It has a picture menu making it possible to choose dishes even if you are unable to read the menu itself. Would advise going in a group of 4-5 people as the portions are quite generous and you would be able to book the private rooms. The restaurant has a second branch in the old part of the city which serves the same quality dishes and also worth visiting.

Provence Town is one of the newest classy Western restaurants in Shantou. We hope you’ll find food, drinks, and an atmosphere to remind you of home.
This is probably the place in town where you can currently find the best steaks and also a very affordable menu in general. On top of being the rare place with good foreign food, they speak English, listen to comments and always try to improve on things. They also have a wide selection of snacks which are really good and cheap. Try stuff, you won't regret it.
Definitely a place to go when in Shantou for drinks, food or just hanging out and meeting new friends!

Fairly good steak,
I have been to this restaurant a few times, and the steak is always fairly good, the coffee is also nice, and they have a reasonable selection of wine.
It's worth a visit.
The only problem we had was, I was given the wrong dish, it would have been nice if they read the receipt before cooking something randomly.
but, still was a nice meal and a nice environment.

Sono stato in questo ristorante accompagnato dai un mio fornitore qui a Shantou, ed ho potuto constatare che davvero è il ristorante più buono della zona, con prelibatezze davvero di rilievo, tra cui il nido di rondine o la zuppa di tartaruga e tanto altro ancora, accessibile anche io prezzo e grande riservatezza con le stanze separate ,tipica usanza cinese......❤️
