This is part of a small chain of restaurants in the area and offers an extensive range of dishes with a picture menu at very reasonable prices. It always seems very busy at lunch time and in the evenings - we went there on several occasions on our recent visit alternating with Yong Xing restaurant. The aubergines with green beans, fried dumplings, minced pork with pancakes, crispy duck are all delicious. In fact everything we tried was really good! Corn juice seems to be the standard drink. The service is very charming (but no English spoken) and efficient and the whole please is clean and efficient. A really good option in Chaozhou and centrally located.

There is no menu at this popular restaurant. There are tanks of fish and other seafood in the entrance and people waiting to take your order before you are seated in one of the two dining rooms dkwnstairs or private rooms upstairs. Everything is and tastes very freshly prepared - jumbo prawns, pork with mushrooms, amazing sweet and sour fish (a local speciality), or just steamed with ginger and lemongrass if you prefer something lighter. The emphasis is on fresh seafood but they do have many other options, some of which you can see on the window looking in to the kitchen. An excellent choice in Chaozhou and very good value. We ate four times on our recent visit! They don't speak a word of English so come with phrase book or translator and you'll be fine.

I normally live in Guangzhou where the food aren't really tasty for me. However, when I went to Chaozhou and ate at this restaurant, I felt like this is the ideal Chinese food I was looking for, as Chaozhou itself is well-known for its delicious food. This restaurant is also in the opposite side of the road of Kaiyuan temple, which is a famous attraction. The price is quite modest, just 20-30 yuan per dish, and they serve free desserts! Don't miss this gem if you're a vegetarian.

Today, I discovered the origins of the name of this dessert : 鸭母捻. The rice balls are shaped to resemble duck eggs!
Apparently this shop has 2 branches in Chaozhou's historic city, opened by brothers from the same family. It is very popular with the locals and their family secret recipe is well guarded.
In each bowl are two glutinous rice balls : one with green bean paste, and another with red bean paste. They are immersed in ️sweet white fungus soup with bits of ginkgo nuts and black beans. Super well-made and not too sweet.
The shop also sells small snacks & pastries.

This is a small place for desert and snakes. Price is right, place is clean, service was average. Great place to go there after a dinner.
