A very quite and peaceful experience travelling on the chairlift looking out over the Rhine river on one side and beautiful woodland on the other. At the top you can walk through the woods to see the fantastic view of the huge curve of the Rhine river. It was a lovely sunny day when we went - probably not so good in the rain!

This large white church, which dates back to the 13th century, dominates the small town of Boppard.
This is a beautiful church inside and obviously still well used. A very old font was located at the entrance to the church which is now kept in the basement.

I was a little wary, since harnesses were talked about and I don't speak German at all. I didn't know what to expect because I get a bit dizzy with heights. I knew my kids would love to do this from seeing the pictures, but I didn't want to do it if it was too dangerous. (My kids are 13 and 16 and very good hikers, with no fear, I should say.) With that being said, I don't think it's as dangerous as the pictures make it look. The climbing areas make it so much more fun than a regular walking hike. We didn't need harnesses, but I think with younger kids, or older people, it could be a good idea. We LOVED this hike. It's gorgeous with views of the river and fun climbing areas. If I knew in advance that you can bypass the climbing areas, and walk around them, I wouldn't have worried so much. It's a loop, so it takes around two to two and a half hours at a brisk pace. You could turn around and go back, but I think it would be more dangerous going that way.

The Carmelite friars founded in 1265 one of the first priories in Germany here in Boppard. The construction of the church in 1320 of a simple plan which has a double nave and is dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. A famous statue of the Boppard Madonna with grapes (1st ripe grape every year is presented) stands near the front entrance. There is a lot to see and study, alters, carved choirstalls, tombs and a fresco with a series of panels depicting the life of St. Alexius.
This is not an ornate church (in keeping with the friars vows of poverty) but still worth visiting and spending some time here.

This Roman remains were pointed out on the train tour so decided to have a look. This should be signed from the riverbank to allow more to see it. However what signs were there were all in German so made it difficult to understand what you were looking at.

Visited Boppard today. Roman remains and medieval town walls mix with a number of interesting buildings. Look out for the two red English telephone boxes near the opticians used as glasses display cases. Took boat trip ftom here around to Lorelei which has english commentary and a reasonably priced restaurant

For the modest fare, it is the perfect way to discover Boppard, passing the important sights and describing them. It provides a perspective of this beautiful town in about 30 minutes in a comfortable and informative way right from the ferry pier and back again.

Our museum has experienced many changes throughout its over one hundred-year residence in the Electoral Castle. One of the most sweeping changes involved refurbishing and restoring the building. Now complete, the castle and its history have been transformed into one of the main attractions, and have therefore moved into the focus of the exhibition. The City History Section presents excerpts from the history of Boppard in the late Middle Ages and the early modern era. Our extensive collection of the castle’s wooden furnishings also tells the tale of Michael Thonet, one of the city’s famous sons, who started out as a particularly imaginative craftsman and ended up creating a global company. The programme at our museum also includes regular temporary Exhibitions and events looking into history and art.
Fairly new opened museum near the center of Boppard which had a reasonable entry fee of 3€. The building is very nice (gray and white trim) and the inside was more sparse than I anticipated. There is a Bentwood collection of chairs and mostly furniture. Not very English oriented and all German explanations.

We took the on landing round trip down to Loreley from Boppard, the scenery is beautiful with lots to look at on route helped by a little English commentary.
The ship was immaculate in every area, there was also a very nice waitress service with drinks and snacks.
This trip at €10 each was excellent value.
