Symon is one of the animals at this zoo. His paintings, sculptures and other objets d'art are fascinating and for some perhaps provocative. In short, Symon celebrates Life in all its facets. Walking through his abode will provide you with mental and emotional stimuli to last for a long time... and the objects can be bought!

After a 15 minutes walk that takes you by pineapple-plants, spice trees and even monkeys, you arrive at this beautiful waterfall. It's cold, and standing under it makes you very aware of the forces of water and mountain combined. So if you want to experience nature in Bali but quickly, this is the place. (Nb. You pay a tiny bit to take the walk to the waterfall. Don't remember how little, but bring small cash).

Sekumpul Waterfall is touted as the most beautiful waterfall in Bali. It is fairly close to Niagara Falls Lemukih, only about 2 km away. Understandably, the Village and Village Lemukih Sekumpul indeed neighbors. To see Sekumpul Waterfall close, it takes a bit of effort and struggle. From the parking lot, you have to walk quite far away, down a dirt road, down the hundreds of stairs, and across the river. When you ride a motorcycle, you can still ride from the parking lot (near the ticket window), to the end of the road paving. After paving the way out, the road turned into a narrow dirt road (footpath). Not long down the path, you arrived at a blank bale (gazebo) with Niagara Falls Sekumpul incredible lure.
The falls are far from many other Bali places, but it's so worth going there!
We rented a car without a driver (325000IDR) and drove to falls from Jimbaran.
It took around 3.5 hours, but the scenic views lasted nearly all the times.
In case you come along, without a driver or tour, don't stop at signs Parkir 1 and 2 for Sekumpul Waterfalls. If you do, someone would drive you to a main parking for additional charge.
We went directly to Sekumpul parking, which you find on Google maps.
From there you may take a guide (I recommend to get him unless you've been there and know where to go), the guy will show you around, take you to falls, make pictures of you and help on the way back.
We were very lucky with our guide as well as with the weather - a real tropical thunderstorm in rainforest was one of a kind experience!
Highly recommended!!!!

Cultural Tours that provide a deep understanding of the Balinese Cultural. Visiting an Ancient Village in Northern Bali Tours include transport, meals and all activities There is also a Canoe Tour on the Holy Lake (Lake Batur) Groups are small and personal (no more than 6 people) Profits go to the local primary school and community. An unforgettable experience, magnificent scenery and fun all in one. The Best Thing to Do in Bali - should not be missed
We did the 2 hour canoe trip as a family of 5. Sibran and Rach picked us up at 7am and then drove us to Lake Batur where we had a breakfast of pancakes before starting on our canoeing trip.
The canoe trip was tranquil and pleasant but be prepared to get wet despite the calm waters. We regretted not bringing a change of clothes. The lake has a beautiful temple. Due to the underground activity the lake colours vary and there is a mild smell of sulphur.
The most outstanding part of the trip however were Sibran and Rach themselves who were a wealth of information about the history and culture of Bali and daily life in the different Balinese villages.

Located on the highway running along Bali's east coast, Surya Indigo Cooperative is dedicated to the preservation of natural dyeing and traditional textiles of Northern Bali. On a visit, you can observe different stages of handmade textile production, such as ginning and spinning cotton and weaving on the traditional back strap loom. Dyeing demonstrations can be arranged in advance. A small shop sells the village group's creations.
Do stop by this shop to see how a local has revived an traditional art and help woken be self- supporting !

The northern node of the Balinese balancing spiritual centers. The older, floral and feminine place for worshiping seems recently to have transformed into a more masculine oriented spiritual center. Active and beautiful it definitely is worth a visit. Remember to visit the boat sculpture, too, placed where the first monk is said to have set foot on Bali.

This was a very interesting place. Even though we were the only westerners, some of the locals acknowledged us and we spoke to a family sitting close by. Fantastic picnic spot or purchase some local food. School holidays so families were enjoying the time with their children. This is something different rather than the hot Springs. Water was rather cold!!

Join us for a sunrise trek to the summit of Mt.Batur (1717 meters) and experience the awesome beauty of an active volcano. Trekking in the cool, early morning darkness (torches, hiking sticks and wet weather gear supplied, if needed), we begin the one to two hour ascent to arrive in time to witness a glorious sunrise and experience the stunning morning views of the surrounding crater.
We had looked forward to this trip and were severely let down. In fact we nearly didn't make it to the first stop- The driver drove at a reckless pace and almost rolled the van trying to avoid a motorcyclist. We had already had several other drivers during our stay in Bali and all drove carefully and safely. Not this driver!
The first stop for breakfast was filthy with flies all over the food, and not much on offer either!
Second stop was a " coffee Plantation" - which was below ordinary and was just an excuse to try and push their merchandise onto us.
NB the roads are poor for cycling, and the tour ran almost 1 and a half hours late. So for being away for 9 hours you only spend 2 hours cycling
We've experienced so much better in Bali- this was such a disappointment
