Bogor is near enough to Jakarta to be a suburb but is also the third largest city in Indonesia and was once capital of the Sunda Kingdom. The city is at a slightly higher elevation than Jakarta and so offers a respite from the high temperatures and humidity of the city. With a world renowned botanical garden and a presidential palace (including massive herds of tiny deer), Bogor offers enough attractions to be worthy of a side trip of several days. Bogor is renowned for having a wide variety of cuisine and also offers golf courses, tennis and other recreational activities.

This place is not far from Jakarta (around 3-4 hours depend on traffic)
Start the day from Cibodas area (Mandalawangi camp ground) with their natural view and fresh air, but a lot of trash,,
The next day, we go to Curug Cibereum. From Mandalawangi you can go to the Taman Nasional Gunung Gede Pangrango's gate first and buy the entry ticket IDR 18.500/person,,
From the gate to Curug Cibereum take 1-1,5 hours walking for around 2,6km. But, again, you will find trash on left and right side of the way.
And.. we arrived at Curug Cibereum,, beautiful waterfall..! But, you will see more trash. It will be better if we can maintain the cleanliness, so, do not litter..!!
Enjoy and Happy Holiday..!
Salam Lestari :)

one of the largest flower in the world, that only blooms occasionally..this year in 2017, is the blooming after 3 years ago. And it bloomed only for such a short period, less than 6 hours. The blooming period is monitored by botanist in Bogor botanical Gardens. Very scarce occasion! Glad to see it directly...

Kuntum nursery is a great place to hang around with young kids. They get to feed the rabbits, hamsters, cows, goats, fish, chicken, ducks etc. Our daughter also loves riding the horse here.
In short, this is a place that will amuse kids and adults alike. Will come back here next time

We looked from a distance- road side and from inside the gardens- and beautiful. Of course you can buy carrots cheaply and feed the thousand or so beautiful deer from the street. Basically if go to garden- it is part of what you will see/ visit.

In an amazing 3 days/2 nights at the wonderful and gorgeous Halimun Salak National Park we hiked to a waterfall (Curug Seribu), enjoyed a hot Springs (Air Pants Ciparay), stayed in a grass hut (in a village near the waterfall), hiked to an active crater (Kawah Ratu - Queen's Crater), stayed in a village homestay with a family (Citalahab Central in Desa Malasari), watched the sunrise over a tea plantation (near Desa Malasari), hiked the rainforest where we saw two types of monkeys - Lutung and Gibbons (near Cikaniki Research Station), and swam and bathed in a cold but refreshing mountain stream (in Desa Malasari).
Plus we ate wonderful local food and learned about indigenous nuts, spices, fruit, trees, leaves, and animals and their many uses. All of this from our very knowledgeable and incredibly generous guide, Pak Adang (Adang Ecotourism Halimun Salak National Park). I am happy to share his contact information with anyone interested. Highly recommend this trip. For those living in Jakarta, this is an easy getaway. He will pick you up in Bogor and everything is handled by him from transportation to food, accommodations, water, and entrance fees. West Java really is a special place. The drive there also includes many scenic views of terraced rice paddies and village life. Indonesia is a bountiful and spectacular country.

We went to the Waterfalls on Saturday, and it was quite crowded by the locals. We hired a car with a driver ( I would recommend it to all tourists, the traffic is a disaster here). There was an entry fee 60 000 rupiah (~4 eur). After the entry there are some local guys volunteering to guide you, but don't believe them, you will be just fine without their expensive services. You can walk easily to the first waterfall, but it is the most popular among the local families. If you hike a bit uphill (bit tiring in the hot weather), you will find the next waterfall with fewer people. The Waterfalls and the forest is magical, the hike is not so exhausting, I would recommend this activity to everyone.

I expect a very big and popular Water Park would be well maintained. I was wrong. I'm a bit regreted my decision to come on saturday, because there was some gatherings going on. It's jam-packed with people and you can literally bump into another.
Because of lack of Seating facilities, people just sort of seat everywhere - I mean literally everywhere. Going from a ride to another was difficult.
And despite the wonderful job of their cleaning staffs (I seen them put much effort), but the park was still dirty.
Renting a cabana (a hut) to put you stuffs was difficult. Even at an expensive price, all Cabanas were rented. I'm lucky to get a partly renovated cabana that nobody wants. So, no one checked after we use it for 3 hours (the maximum rental time). So at the end we can use it for more... thank heavens....
I'm not sure if I ever want to come here again. But definitely won't be on weekend...

It was a wonderful experience for our family. The location has three Waterfalls, all were beautiful with clear and cold water. I really hope the local government could preserved its beauty.

This is absolutely an affordable park for family. They offer many packages depend on our need and money. We can also buy fruits directly on the garden. We can find a great lake there where we can row a boat or doing some water sport. We will come back again soon. This is a flawless picnic place.
