When most people think of Zermatt, they think of one thing: The Matterhorn. This ultimate Swiss icon looms over Zermatt, first drawing visitors here in the 1860s. The village of Zermatt itself is lovely and car-free, with old-fashioned brown chalets and winding alleys. (Don’t worry, you don’t have to walk everywhere—there are electric vehicles and horse-drawn cabs.) Skiing in the region often lasts through early summer, but when the weather’s warmer, it’s a great time to hike.

We've been several times at Zum See on the Zermatt Slopes, and it never disappoints.
This family run business is in my opinion perfect under all aspects, and guarantees the best food in the cozy and welcoming atmosphere of the cottage on the slopes.
It is very popular and sometimes it's hard to make a reservation, but it has not turned into a money making machine like some other popular spots on the slopes.
It is not inexpensive, but worth every single penny - food, wine, service, location all spotless.
Just one warning: it is highly addictive. :)
Enjoy Zum See, i cannot wait to go back.

Mountain Restaurant
I was lucky enough to be in a ski school where everyone was happy to pay a little extra for lunch, and our instructor booked this. Great welcome, lovely room inside and delicious food. Would come again!

The service, presentation, and attention to detail here is fabulous. The staff is a mostly young, energetic group that combines top notch service with approachability, flexibility, and not a trace of stuffiness. Each dish is beautiful and conceptualized. The menu flexibly accommodates allergy or preference. The Waitstaff is knowledgeable and friendly. The room is simple and elegant. The food is excellent and one or two dishes simply sublime. Very well run and managed operation. Recommended. (FYI, the restaurant accommodates small children, and puts out colorful items to entice them, and most significantly, apparently makes anything to order for the child-diner -- I traveled alone but saw a family with small kids and they appeared to get pasta to order, which wasn't on the menu. Also the space is big enough and absorbs sound enough that, if you are troubled by dining at a fancy place with kids, don't worry, you can't really hear it. And besides the place is elegant, but casual and some adults there are loud, too.)

As an alpine restaurant, Blatten exists since the beginnings of tourism in Zermatt and it has kept its traditional appearance. Initially, around 1850, it was a little teahouse run by the family. Since the early 1950s, the mother Ludowika has been the hostess of the place for decades. The Taugwalder family has a tradition of both gastronomy and mountain climbing. Indeed, Leander himself met his wife Simone on the top of the Matherhorn. Since more than 30 years, we, Leander and Simone, run this place with passion. The young generation, our daughter Sarah with her husband Hans, assist us actively. - Restaurant on two levels - First floor seats up to 43, second floor 47 - Terrace with 140 seats - Winter season from December to April - Summer season from June to October - Warm kitchen every day from 11:30am to 5pm - House owned organic herb garden - On the path: Ricola herb garden and Gornergorge (during summer season) - During winter season every Wednesday Fondue evenings. Reservations necessary.
We had lunch here one day while skiing and ate inside. Restaurant is very authentic and cozy. Food and service were wonderful. Definitely get the mushroom soup! Meat is the thing here, whether grilled on the wood fire in the middle of the restaurant or otherwise. I didn’t fancy a steak so had the Zurich geschnetzeltes which had amazingly tender veal and was one of the best versions I’ve had. My wife’s prawns were perfectly cooked too. Desserts were good too. And the man himself is lovely, a super cook and great host. Recommend (and don’t forget to book, you’d be lucky to get a table walking in)!

Welcome to Sparky's Bar & Restaurant. Sparky's Bar & Restaurant will be opening again for the winter season from Thursday 16th November 2017. See you all soon.
We came here our second night in Switzerland. We are vegetarians, so we knew our potions were going to be limited. Sparky made some suggestions and they were spot on. Split pea cream soup, a fabulous salad with almonds, sesame seeds and cranberries, and a curry dish with chick peas. We were stuffed. Prices are in line with most restaurants in the area.

We loved our experience here. It felt like a nostalgic, romantic, homey Swiss chalet, festively decorated with cowbells and lamb memorabilia. Servers wore traditional clothing and were friendly and helpful. We booked this place upon Reading reviewing that claimed it was incredibly "Swiss," which we were interested in trying. It lived up to its hype. We had a lamb meal and also the never-ending raclette, which was served with a basket of baby potatoes, pickles, pearl onions, and beef prosciutto. We agreed the raclette meal might not have been the absolute tastiest meal we had on our trip (essentially just potatoes and cheese with accompaniments), but we knew what the meal was going in, and just wanted to try it in an authentic setting.
Highly recommend! Lots of fun.

As for the cuisine, the new CERVO Puro continues to rely on its proven strengths. The restaurant serves mainly regional and sustainably sourced products. Whether guests choose to go for one of the weekly alternating set menus, or prefer a classic dish from the small but beautiful à la carte list - the in-house recipes will impress them, combining a native Alpine character with Italian influences.
Ridiculously expensive and absolutely delicious burgers with truffle fries.
One of the best burgers I’ve ever had but not sure I’d pay that amount again for a burger.
I wasn’t impressed by the apres ski bar which we went to afterwards
