Żary [ˈʐarɨ] ( listen) (German: Sorau, Lower Sorbian: Žarow) is a town in western Poland with about 39,900 inhabitants (2006), situated in the Lubusz Voivodeship (since 1999, previously in Zielona Góra Voivodeship (1975–1998)). It is the administrative seat of the Gmina Żary, although not part of it.

After being told by a local that the best restaurants were well away from the town centre, we four were pleased to find this little gem just off the main square and well away from the crowded pedestrian mall with its many cafes, restaurants and gelato bars. Restaurant Lew is housed in a lovely old, and very well preserved, building and has a small outdoor area at the rear of the premises. It was too cold for us this August day so we settled for lunch indoors. Among the dishes we enjoyed thoroughly were an appetiser of tomato slices and basil pesto on a light rye bread, beetroot soup, venison and potatoes, sirloin steak with potato wedges and vegetables, ravioli, and we all tried their lovely berrry tart. The food was well prepared and presented and it was a pleasure to dine there. The price was well below what we paid for comparable meals in countries to the west.

I had a business lunch here and this is a new restaraunt in Zary. The menue is excellent and the food was really good. The only downside is the service speed, which was not the fastest. If going on own or without a Polish speaking friend please note the menu is only in Polish. Great Looking Pizzas!

Wie saßen in so einer kleiner Gartenwirtschaft und bestellten. Torismusqualität dachten wir. Dann kam das Essen. Super! Unerwartet lecker. Frischer Salat ohne Mackel, alles Bestens!! Die kleine Gartenwirtschaft gehört zu einem Restaurant gleich nebenan, welches wir zuerst nicht gesehen haben.
