We went on the recommendation of our hotel staff! Beautiful walk through the old city! We ordered steaks for dinner, mine was ordered medium rare but cooked rare, the waiter quickly put it back on the grill and it was perfect! The ribeye was very big! Had clam chowder that was a bit too salty, and a great big bowl, only ate 1/5 of it! Wine selection was not big but the Chilean "Santa Digna" was the best. My college had a salad that was fit for three people! The bread and dips were truly Argentinian and were great! I ordered Mexican coffee after dinner and got black coffee that was great (Mexican coffee has alcohol in it). I also had the mashed potatoes which was huge (I recommend sharing all items with dinner), and my guest had a apple strudel which was huge with ice cream, and the total bill was about 85 USD for two, with good tip! Very good value, too much to eat! Highly recommended from an American!

We came due to the great reviews and had high expectations... location is great, walking distance to everything downtown. Service was friendly. Ambiance nice, like an oldies place... that being said, my son had chicken nuggets and these were obviously from a frozen bag (we buy the same at home). I had a soup and it was also obviously made with frozen vegetables. Then i got a chef salad and it was very "blah", tasted like cheap cheese, cheap ham, bottled dressing... needless to say we were not impressed, you can eat the food and the location is convenient but there are better places in the area.

This little restaurant is on the main Hidalgo Avenue across from the Zacatecas Cathedral. It has a decent selection of gorditas and they're 15 pesos each (gorditas run about 7-10 pesos on the street). The tortillas were toasty and not greasy, which I liked. The fillings inside were sparse and varied in taste - Both the chorizo and picadillo gorditas were good. The rajas was very spicy. I like spicy, but it was a bit too spicy for me. The deshebrada and the nopales gorditas were not very good. Service was prompt, if not friendly.
In sum, it's not bad for a quick stop, but there are plenty of hole-in-the-wall tiny restaurants with more delicious food and friendlier service. Try El Rincon de Los Sirenos near the Plaza de la Atarjea near Callejon Ancho for a terrific torta adobada (I plan to add it to tripadvisor), or La Bartola on Hidalgo for delicious tacos cooked on the grill in front of you (at the bar). (There's another, more upscale, La Bartola in Plaza Auza that is of the same chain).
Hope that helps! Happy eating!

I was recommended this place by my hotel when I asked for a good Mexican place nearby the sights. It is a stone's throw from the Cathedral, and so it is convenient. The fare is very Mexican, and decidedly Zacatecas-inspired.
I only saw Mexicans while I was there, so I guess it is a good sign...

Had a Customer i town, so dropped in here - You need a Reservation!!! Is so busy every day! Came in at 20H lovely greeting, friendly servers, all trying to speak English and also helping our Spanish!
They gave some recommendations so we ordered 6 different dishes and 7 plates and let the fun begin! From the nachos to the salsa with cactus. The dishes were amazing, the flavor wow not tasted anything so good! If you are here in a group just order different dishes and share them! Food really good, service perfect! Then 3 singers came in played guitar and really finished the night off for us.
Great time, highly recommend :-)

This former bullring dating back to 1866 is absolutely gorgeous. It's been lovingly restored as a boutique hotel and restaurant and I could imagine a gorgeous wedding taking place here. The food at dinner, as was the service, was amazing! Lots of ambience especially at night with candles and caverns lit up. Very romantic spot. You have to try it at least once if you're in the area, it's spectacular.

We stopped and had an early dinner at La Traviata, Service was super fast, yet cuisine was a bit cold. We sat outside and enjoyed the location by watching the street life and listening to music. We enjoyed a bottle of wine, however, the cuisine was okay. Like I said earlier, the service was super fast, but the presentation and temperature was nothing to brag about. Nevertheless, we walked away buzzing and happy...sitting outside was great!

Hacienda La Gaviota te ofrece una selección extraordinaria de la gastronomía mexicana. Integra la magia de los estados y puertos mexicanos con una variedad de cortes y Delicias del mar en un entorno cálido e informal de hacienda.
I was recently there have a celebratory dinner for my wife. We were a medium sized group.
As always the service was outstanding. The food is always. The modern twist on classic Mexican dishes is done very well
The restaurant also has a nice play area for the kids.
An all around great place!!!

Food is not great, we order the trio (hummus, etc), it was so small that we could even taste it, not to mention that it did not taste great.
I ordered a greek salad, very very bland, so little feta that I could not even find it. Not to mention that it came with three black olives...

Original y Unico en la Ciudad de Zacatecas
The place is delightful and quirky, perfect for any occasion. There are multiple small rooms that are packed with art and craft. When you go in they will give you a card with photos of ten pieces on it so you can explore all the rooms looking for the pieces. Perfect thing to do to occupy children while you are waiting for food or having a nice coffee after your meal.
The food is fine. None of it was hot though so make sure to ask them to bring it hot. Soups not brilliant, don't bother. Tacos and tortas very nice and the main dishes good too. A fun place, not expensive and well worth a visit.
