This is really good local food. Seasonal, healthy. Not flash or fancy, but no deep fried sausage here! Fresh fish, local meat, great salad. It's not ultra fine dining (although are trying a bit too hard on this front), good local wine too.

When on the "Schöckl" eat at the Stubenberg Haus and enjoy the fantastic view over Graz and the Koralpe up to Hungary and Slovenia. Sit on the nice Terrace and have a Kaiserschmarrn or one of the other excellent dishes. They even have rooms for the night, so this is even an option when having to much beer or wine to be able to drive home!

I was in Weiz for a professional meeting, and the night of our arrival we had dinner at Ederer Gasthof.
The place looks a bit strange, but the whole is rather nice. A mix of tradition and modern furniture is the most peculiar character of this place.
The quality of food anyway overwhelms the atmosphere and the environment.
I started with a traditional Klachlsuppe mit Heidensterz, a sort of pig’s trotter soup with buckwheat mush: excellent, without further comment.
As main course I had a Rosa Gebratene Rinderrücken mit Speckbohnen und Maislaibchen, a very soft pink roast beef filet with bacon, beans and corn patties: excellent again!
I closed with a chocolate cake, good, but probably desserts are not the specialty of the house.
The service was faultless, and the price reasonable, compared to the overall quality.

Danke.

The appliance of the restaurant is very classy and cozy and they have a beautiful big Terrace with a great view. The house is situated next to the church Mariatrost which is worth a visit. Mariatrost is about 30 minutes by car from the city centre of Graz and next to the restaurant there is a beautiful, big forest where you can walk your meal off with a stroll. The food is ok, but for the prices I expected a higher quality and a larger serving. The staff appeared very stressed and was not so friendly. The famous "Sacher Torte" was drouthy and a disappointment.

This place is certainly well known among locals, but it should be mentioned here for international visitors in lieu of the growing amount of fine restaurants in the Weiz area. This small city used to be a regional industrial hub rather than what it is known for today: a modern small and green town in the center of Eastern Styria's Apple Road which increasingly attracts families from the 25 mile away capital, Graz, for its lower housing and living costs and high standard of living. Culinary highlights such as the Schlosswirt are part of this trend. As a group of 8 we pre- ordered the fried chicken, which was excellent, but the rest of the lunch menu looked also very tempting.

This restaurant was a real surprise: Austrian and mediterranean food at its best. We didn't expect to find such quality and creativity in this small Austrian town. The chef loves Spain, thus he lets himself inspire by Andalusian specialities - especially the fish soup is adorable. At the same time he serves traditional Austrian food with his personal tasty touch. The ingrediences are all fresh and mostly from the area, like wild boar and deer which the chef himself brings home from the hunt. And all of this at absolutely reasonable prices. Especially at lunch you could choose between 5-6 Business Lunches at variable prices and further 5 set menus for 7,20€.
The service is warm and efficient at the same time. Last but not least there are some excellent Austrian and Spanish wines to discover. An absolute must when you're in the area!

Food excellent and value for money excellent. Wines and cheeses very good selection. Local wiener schnitzel and pumpkin soups excellent. If you just wanted a beer or coffee nothing was to much trouble.

Best place in the area for Sunday brunch but they also serve lunch and dinner. You will enjoy speciality food of the local cuisine. Worth your trip
