On the western coast of the Baltic Sea, Timmendorfer Strand invites you to stay and relax a while. The 7km beach is the main attraction (there's also a nude beach if you're interested in baring all). Travelers rave about the chic town, shops, restaurants, spas, and golf course. In the summer months, a KinderClub (children's club) offers daytime activities just for kids.

My spouse and I tried some "touristic" restaurants we finally received the advise to try the Fischkiste in Niendorf: The fish is definitely the best as it comes straight from the fishing harbor just opposite the restaurant. Menu is focusing mainly on local fish dishes but the quality, freshness and the preparation is fantastic!
A few observations:
- Prices are compared to other restaurants higher but still reasonable. At noon special rates are available and than it is really good money spend!
- Restaurant looks a bit "old fashioned" but services is extremely nice and welcoming.
- If you are in the area you can have a nice walk or even better a bicycle tour from Timmendorfer Strand to Travemünde (cliffs) and combine it with a stop in the restaurant.
- In case of some spare capacity there is the well known Café "Strandvilla am Hafen" which is would be cherry on the cream.

VISIT US AND BE AMAZED! Have you ever been on a real sailing ship? When you enter our restaurant in picturesque Niendorf for the first time, you will immediately think you are inside a sailing vessel from days gone by. Surrounded by polished oak, petrified wood and authentic maritime decorations, you will enjoy a relaxing stay at JohannsenS and will want to return.
We had dinner in Johanssens on a windy September evening. The overall setup of the restaurant made us feel warm at once. Meat and fish dishes were typically German and all those we had were tasty and very good. Service was efficient and friendly. Thanks a lot for your review!?

Friendly bustling Italian in the centre of town with a big covered Terrace and a smaller inside. The problem with the Terrace is that smoking is allowed in what in reality is an enclosed area.
Menu is typical Italian with the highlight being the fresh fish which is on show on the counter. Prices reasonable for the quality of the food. Service was pretty good for a busy evening. Bookings are a good idea.

The Reethus is a treat.
Reservations are essential, but the booking is worth the wait.
The restaurant is picturesque and beautifully presented with loving attention to detail.
The service is excellent, attentive, friendly and helpful.
The food lived up to our high expectations and the little extras were a welcome surprise.
This is a relatively expensive restaurant, but worth the price - an evening experience to be remembered.

situated on the square in TS this is one of the great people watching spots from the large Terrace. Drinks and a small but decent selection of food. Fantastic cakes.
On a wet and cold Monday in March we ate dinner inside. The schnitzel was excellent and the fish special very nice. Both about €20. Service was helpful, friendly and efficient.
Inside is quite stylish and comfortable. Ideal in the bad weather whereas in anything near decent weather head for the Terrace.

The atoshpere comment is that the restaurant is styled very much like a lot of other restaurants in Germany I have eaten in. Very quiet clientele and a bit too formal. Not a criticism, just an observation. It is just on the parade in Timmendorfer Strand so you get to see all the people in their Hyundai i10s promenading in front, the lack of atmosphere in the restaurant is maximised when you hear the cars rumbling along the paved surface, the same i10 sounds like a HumVee rumbling past....obviously on their way to Cafe Wichtig...
My partner and her father had Dorchfilet (Haddock IIRC) - delicious, pfifferlinge and potatoes, while I had the pfifflerlinge (mushrooms), roast potato. Excellent dishes. Starter for me was vitello tomato (beef in tuna sauce) and father had shrimps. excellent again. Plus point for me was the availability of Franziskaner Weissbier, nice change from Erdinger. Service excellent and polite.

This is a very typical north German cafe. If one of the following conditions are met you will love it:
- Homemade really great cake
- Terrace in the sun with view towards the beach
- Watching people going by at the Promenade
- Unique old-fashioned still
- some art in the cafe itself
You will not that curious when your are there at peak hours because service get delayed and/or you do not like the traditional cafe atmosphere.
Overall you can stroll by and see if you like it (and have a stop) especially when you are visiting the Fischkiste which I did that day :)

Cafe/bar/ restaurant right on the main square in Timmendorfer. Large Terrace that is one of the places to sit and people watch - and there is certainly plenty to watch in this wealthy town .
The inside has the feel of a cafe and even in the cold weather the heated Terrace is the place to be.
The place is in two parts. A cafe with a simple menu but every drink imaginable and a cake counter to die for. The other part is a fantastic fish restaurant where the local plaice features heavily. Only frustration is that you can't access the food from one part in the other. Prices reasonable (for location) and service was generally very good although sometimes the wait for the bill can be interminable.
They do a very popular breakfast which looks fantastic and whilst expensive actually seemed reasonable value for money.
Staff speak enough English to get by.
