As it was a Sunday night (a usually off-night and often finding restaurants closed) we were fortunate to have the hotel restaurant open for us. Simon, our server, was gracious, knowledgable, and incredibly helpful. The menu is designed around seasonal and fresh, local foods. Simon guided us to Slovenian wines for our dinner, beginning with the Slovenian 'bubbly wine', which was delicious. We shared a bottle of local Chardonnay, which was quite to our liking. To start, we each ordered a freshly made salad of local spinach and rocket lettuce with small amounts of cucumbers, red peppers, tomatoes, and radishes served with a choice of olive oil or pumpkin seed oil (delicious!) and either balsamic or white vinegar. The lettuces tasted as if they had just been picked.
For dinner, hubby chose the wild venison (not farmed raised), a large portion of deep, richly flavored and tender meat. Served alongside was a wine poached pear and celery mash. Filling, unusually delicious, and satisfying. I had the oven baked sea bass served with potatoes and assorted fresh vegetables with a light white sauce. The meal was beautifully served and perfectly prepared, satisfying and delicious.
Simon brought us each an after dinner drink: grappa for my husband and a fruit liquor for me--as we were celebrating my birthday.
Simon is an incredible young man and the Hotel CUBO is fortunate to have him on staff. Thank you for making our first night in Ljubljana a very welcoming one, Simon!

Cozy and inviting cafe specializing in green tea (although the coffee is good too). The service here is exceptional. The cafe was totally crowded, and the sole waiter was able to service everyone in a timely and efficient manner. Try the Matcha Tiramisu. I loved it. BTW: excellent Wifi connection as well.

We serve worlds best wine, every day from noon to midnight, except on Sundays. Our only priority is a returning guest. Always.
This place is right next door to the town hall , they have a very extensive range of local wines at various prices to either take home or drink in . They also serve cold meats , cheese and oysters . The only negative is that we had 4 glasses of wine and when we got the bill they charge by .1 of a litre and there is no way we had a tenth of a litre in each glass so be wary .

The a-la-carte restaurant in Via Podvin is run by one of Slovenia's best chefs - Uros Stefelin. Uros finds challenges in discovering forgotten local ingredients, getting to know them and creating new dishes in his own unique way. With modern techniques and creativity he transforms traditional dishes into culinary delights of Slovene Nouvelle Cuisine. Our restaurant is decorated with local Slovene souvenirs. Each telling a tale of its past and the wealth of Slovenian cultural heritage. We wish to add to this collection by sharing our culinary souvenirs with you; visit us, taste the dishes and when leaving, leave with good memories and the recipes of the dishes you have tasted.
After wandering around Bled we decided to have something special for lunch. The Bled itself is special enough, but to finish the walk around the lake in such authentic restaurant like this one it's very special indeed. I loved the modern versions of the meals that forefathers once ate. Every dish deserves to be mentioned because here everything is delicious, but who would read long list? Well if you want to you can check mine blog (to the name just add .com :)), cuz I did it! In short, I think that typical regional breakfast, served in an eggshell does leave an impression. The filling was deliciously seasoned and made of “polenta” which is a corn mash, egg yolk, rinds and potato foam and crispy bacon on top. This would be one delicious breakfast to eat every day for longer period, as it was so delicious that I scraped out everything and even damaged the shell a little :)
For even shorter description is all I can say: Delicious!

Came here based on the reviews on tripadvisor and google. A bit disappointed really. We had the 4 courses lunch menu, not much surprise from the menu, average food. Bread is surprisingly nice though. Restaurant might need to improve their ventilation, however we sat quite close to the kitchen, and the kitchen door was open.

A place for meat lovers though it has to be said that their grilled bread is probably the best bread in Slovenia. Very friendly staff and good service even though we visited on a very busy Friday night. As always in Slovenia excellent Slovenian wines! We are the mixed grill platter which was great just make sure to order it with the fillet of Colt which is really tasty

Restaurant Pavus is situated in a small castle overlooking the town of Laško. Easy accesible on foot from city center or by car. Visit for the view and choose from a varitiy of Laško beer or a wide choice of local wines, have a dessert or a lavish dinner. The restaurant is family run and chef Marko Pavčnik is one of the top 10 chefs in Slovenia. His food is based on local ingridients and extensive knowledge of mordern culinary tehniques. Combined with the castle architecture will provide you a coulinry expirience to remember.
visited for dinner,we arived unexpectedly, nevertheless the waiter was very polite and sat as at a table for two, which was in the lower floor of the restaurant.the restaurant is located in a castle, very elegant.we were offered menus and the waiter suggested a course of four dishes.we took same appetizers, the entrees were deer and fish.each dish was explained to us in a very professional manner, each dish was absolutely divine.a combination of different tastes, cooked to perfection by the Chef Mitja who showed up at the end to receive our sincere lodes.with each course a different wine was servet, matching the food.at the end we completed with a grappa.all compliments to the staff,we can not thank them enough for a pleasant evening.

The food is good, but considering other reviews I expected a more elaborated set of dishes. We got a 7 course menu, starting with a set of amuse bouches with very raw and straight forward tastes. The second course was a set of raw fish, even though the tastes were rather boring. Next was a kind of consommé or fish soup with some scallops, which was a tasty dish. The chef then prepared a combination of mashed potatoes with truffles and egg yolk, which was a really well executed dish, but nothing really new. We continued with a risotto with shrimp and ended with some tuna and lemon mashed potatoes. Before the dessert we got some sorbet which cleansed the mouth really well. The dessert was a combination of panettone, creme anglaise and crumble.
The wine list is ok, even though I didn't get the feeling that the chef was able to recommend the appropriate wine to his dishes. Overall it was a pleasurable experience. I missed more feedback from the chef, who could use a little more imagination. The biggest drawback was definitely the price. There were 4 of us. Each of us had a 7 course menu, we started with a glass of sparkling wine and had two bottles of wine (both from 2014, if I remember well) and the final price was around 280 euros, which in my opinion was just too much for the food we ate and the wine we drank. I would definitely recommend the chef to to get out of his comfort zone and deliver bolder combinations, especially if he wants to charge that amount of money.

Excellent food, home-made style, that does deserve a visit. We were lucky to find a table for lunch at 13h as the restaurant filled up pretty quickly.
As mentioned in some comments, the service could be better but the staff is really nice.
We asked for three dishes: mix grill for 1, chicken breast with cheese sauce and grilled veggies - everything beyond expectations. The home-made baklava is a must try!! Better than the dessert?? The price: food and drinks (wine and beer) for 32€!!!
