Moddershall Oaks' award-winning restaurant in Staffordshire is in the heart of the countryside with the most beautiful lakeside view. Combine the freshest organic ingredients with the creativity and enthusiasm of top chefs and you have menus to genuinely excite the taste buds.
No, this is not a misprint. For many years Staffordshire has lacked an entry in the Good Food Guide and although Moddershall Oaks may not make it, it should be visited. The food is very well presented and it's good quality in the nouvelle cuisine style (ie you can eat 3 courses without feeling bloated!). An extension is planned for 2018 as, currently, the bulk of the clientele appear in bath robes, as part of a day at the spa. The idea is to split the restaurant into spa guests and diners. The location is excellent, too.

We went here for a Valentine meal and really enjoyed it.
To start I had carrot and cumin soup with a roll, hot and tasty. My wife had crab, avacado and tomato layer which she thought was excellent.
I had sirloin with daupinoise potatoes and a red wine reduction, all very nice indeed.
We both had lemon tart for dessert which was also very good.
There followed petit fours and coffee.
The only let down really was as the restaurant filled the service became quite slow. We had to wait quite a while for dessert and I eventually had to remind them we had ordered.
In all it is well worth a visit and we would go again as the food is good.
The meal was a set price at £27 each and all in it cost £80 with drinks so good value.

Vibrant atmosphere, friendly staff and a fairly extensive menu with a good selection available to vegetarians.
Public car park immediately across the road at the rear of the site.
Food is OK. Not particularly imaginative but what you would expect to find in what is essentially a chain restaurant.

Not our first visit and not disappointed.
Good was again excellent (fresh /home cooked) and service excellent (our waitress Chloe was very attentive).
We enjoyed starter and main courses. The mini starters at £3.50 each /3 for £10 where a great way try a few different options.
Main courses were good sized particularly the fish and chips and Lamb Duo. My wife could only eat 2 of the 3 bits of fish presented!
Seating for 5 a little strange as you eat in a railway carriage with a 4 /2 split of seats across the gangway. You are close enough to have a conversation.
Plenty of parking.
Our Bill came to just over £110 for 5 of us but include mains, starters, a side dish and drinks both alcoholic and sort. Overall pretty good value
Well worth a visit.

I hadn’t visited Aston Marina since it had been refurbished and what a lovely change. The decor is relaxing and beautiful. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The menu has great options on it and it accommodates people with any requirement.
We stopped by of a lunch time on a Saturday afternoon.
Delicious coffee! Very tasty chunky chips! Battered fish the size of a small whale. Very impressed.
We had an issue with one of the dishes that we ordered but when we mr turned it, the staff sorted it efficiently and quickly with a smile, which made me confident that it would be an occurring issue.
I would love to revisit of an evening so I’ll definitely be back.

Visited having read good TA reviews and we weren't disappointed. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable, great range of really fresh tasting good ales in the right glasses. Reasonable prices, and to make it even better, we won a pint by balancing a 20p on a lemon!
The decor is interesting with loads of photos. We visited on quiz night, so it was busy, unfortunately had to leave before the quiz started.
Wish we had found this pub before, but we will definitely return.

The Wayfarer is a brand new country pub and restaurant serving the freshest home cooked food in stylish surroundings. Our designers have created an amazing environment for you to relax in and enjoy Chef's homemade food prepared to the highest standards just like it's sister pub The Swan with Two Necks.
Have eaten at this restaurant many times and always had a lovely meal. However on this occasion the meal was really disappointing. The food was lukewarm and my main course which was the savoury filled crepes were extremely gritty. I didn't complain as we were guests of others to celebrate a family birthday and I didn't want to cause any embarrassment to our hosts, but I left most of the dish. And PLASTIC STRAWS in the drinks !!! Come on wayfarer..you can do better than this

Country Pub / Restaurant run by the Jordan family for almost 50 years. Good food, Good beer, Good company.
Twelve us arrived for lunch on Saturday, what a great choice. They have a good selection of ales and ciders, I went for Stafford brewed Top Totty, and was not disappointed.
The Greyhound has a comprehensive menu, a good selection of specials, and vegetarian options. The food is obviously freshly prepared the staff are very friendly, all in all a really great experience, we will be back.

Not visited myself but my Mum Kath visited on Saturday lunch time with a group of about 10 walkers. It was their last walk of the year and they always follow it up with a meal out. As Mum is retired and a member of many groups and clubs, she eats out quite a lot and so has become quite a good critic of places to eat.
I saw Mum today and she was telling me how impressed she and all the other ladies were with the food and the service. Mum usually chooses a fish dish when she eats out and so went for the fish and chip option, as she thought the other fish dishes were a little pricey for a lunchtime meal. She said the meal was superb - the fish was excellent and she could tell that it had been freshly battered, very crisp. When she told me the price of £10.95, I said that I thought it was a fairly usual, regular price for the type of establishment. And if the food is good, it is worth paying a little more anyway - we both agree on that!
She said that one of the other ladies had the curry, which was served beautifully. The gentleman serving could see that the lady was struggling a little with the dish the curry was served in however and immediately offered to get her a plate.
Another couple of ladies had the baguette, which even though it was on the 'light bites menu', it was like a main meal and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
All in all, even though I haven't visited myself, I just wanted to thank you for providing my Mum with a very positive experience, with excellent food and service. I will visit myself some time!
