This restaurant has the best location possible. Right on the beach and sitting outside in perfect weather cannot be beaten. The menu is not very extensive, but everything is freshly prepared. Ask the waiter for recommendations and she was quick the recommend food as well as the best craft beer. We even went back for a second visit during our 3 day stay in Paternoster. The restaurant has an all day 'buzz' that is difficult to find at the other places in town!

Our listed hours is Seating times. We are open for a local beer or West coast wine all day where you can sit under the umbrellas and stare at the sea. We bring you a unique dining experience.. Explore the Paternoster beach and nestled amongst the rocks, you will find a simple white-washed fisherman's cottage. This 80 year old building, known as 'Gaaitjie' has a warm, nostalgic atmosphere, true to its heritage. This unique atmosphere of tradition and comfort has inspired an eclectic menu featuring local produce, fused with contemporary and Asian influences. Our food is unpretentious and made with love, using sustainable fresh local produce as far as possible. Our décor is modest and comfortable and our unique location promises spectacular views to compliment a memorable dining experience.
Wonderful service and delicious food! This restaurant’s location is hard to beat, right on the beach with magnificent views. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here - calamari, mussels and masala prawns - all cooked to perfection. And the homemade potbrood was heaven! Not to be missed when visiting Paternoster. Highly recommend.

A friendly family restaurant serving delicious pizzas, burgers and seafood at reasonable prices. View to die for!
Not expensive but still poor. Very greasy calamari with a tinned feta and olive salad and a pizza with no tomato base, processed cheese and pineapple/ham from tin.
Lovely spot with a lovely view but wouldn’t go back.

Deceiving viewed from the road .
The place is more inviting when stepping inside, lovely views to the sea with a nice area with a donkey and goats to watch.
Our first visit was for a coffee and exellent carrot cake served by friendly staff.
We saw breakfast was available so returned for a second visit unfortunately we were disappointed as it was presented beautifully not cheap but each item was cold served on cold plates even the coffee was only a two thirds filled cold cup and although hot milk still was tepid to drink. Such a shame as the setting is great .We will go again but stick to coffee and carrot cake.

Chef Kobus van der Merwe may still be involved in the menu, but his focus is now on Wolfgat, a restaurant in the same town. Oep ve Koep's restaurant feels rather lost now, with empty tables, a neglected garden, hesitant service, and a menu that fails to excite. The quality of the individual dishes remains good.

We are family orientated and enjoy to make you feel welcome and enjoy a good meal or just have a few drinks.
Samantha and her husband the new owners, were only due to take over/open a day later and as you can well imagine, were not fully prepared but were more than obliging in accommodating our group of 7.
We all had different starters and main dishes and the general consensus was a great effort so good luck with this new venture, you two. When next I am in St Helena Bay I'll be back for another excellent meal.

Restaurant on the beach with the best sea view on the West Coast. Under new management from 13 February 2018 with the original owners Don & Connie. Fresh produce with a touch of Portugal and true West Coast hospitality !

At The Square Spoon we aim to marry "East with West" African style. Namely West Coast (South Africa) to East Coast (Mozambique) So on our menu there are dishes of both! We also cater for vegetarians and vegans! Come and enjoy!
We were staying in a house on the beach and walked to this fantastic restaurant along the beach so really fun
The restaurant is the best in Paternoster and a MUST……….
Super food and great service
Lovely fish as you would expect and good meat
Great wine and fabulous views
The walk back in the dark was also fun - a bit like being back in our 20's

Cosy relaxed atmosphere on the west coast. The chef owns the place, therefore the food is always great. Cater for functions, parties, etc. Fresh fish always available and the best steaks in the area.
My friends and I regularly eat at this warm friendly restaurant where the food is lovingly prepared by top chefs JP and Angie. Their steaks and prime ribs are to die for and the seafood is superb. We recommend this gem of a restaurant for a wide variety of top class cuisine.
