We stayed in Paternoster mid-week, off-peak. The long stretch of sand with sporadic rock pools was a pleasure to enjoy, with few people. The old town is a picturesque backdrop. The local fishing fleet launch from the sand adding interest. (It is probable that at weekends and in peak season the town and beach will be very busy)

We spent a bit of time browsing through the studio. We loved the artwork, and actually bought a painting. We also had a cup of coffee at the coffee shop attached, lovely view and friendly hostess.

As with most things in Paternoster this store certainly is unique. A wonderful eclectic mix of items - gifts, clothes, super preserves and a lovely selection of Cape honeys. Well worth a browse and quite likely you'll find something that takes your fancy.

This store was easily identifiable with its steel cutouts outside the front entrance. The interior is client friendly as there is enough space to view the different items on sale and the displays are creatively done. Of interest, is an old wooden boat, which, instead of being used as a succulent container outside the store, is used to good effect inside to display locally crafted items. The wares for sale were aimed at the overseas tourists though.

This is no run-of-the-mill antique shop, but a miscellaneous collection of items, some practical, others whimsical and some just weird. Something for everybody, I suppose. It was interesting to see but I didn't look at any price tags as I was quite content to gaze without the feeling of acquisitiveness.

The At Botha Gallery is a small, artist run gallery located in a 4 store shopping Centre towards the end of St Augustine Road.
Clearly At does have a talent although as with all art it won't appeal to everybody. Worth popping in if you're stopping - there are a couple of shops and a coffee shop adjacent.

Make no mistake, the quaint shop exterior is designed to make the whole retail experience a pleasurable one, but in all honesty, I could not get my head round those inflated prices! There is a lot inside to tempt a shopper, and to their credit, most of it looks as if it is sourced locally. There is such a lot of items crammed into a small space - reminding me of those general dealers in the platteland!
The ladies behind the till were not at all interested in engaging with customers, and therefore there were few if any purchases made while I was in the store.

Been going to this iconic pub for years on our annual visit to Paternoster. The vibe is great and a visit to the town without the Panty Bar stop is unthinkable. However, this year we were so disappointed to find the service poor to downright rude. The bar closes very early (we went one evening at 20h30 and it was closed?!) and those inside already can stay but no one else allowed in. I would hate for this landmark pub to suffer but hope they will take to heart the complaints I heard around me being voiced and ensure the longevity of this old time favourite
