Punta Ballena is a small peninsula (punta) and a resort (balneario), as well as an important tourist attraction on the coast of Río de la Plata in the Maldonado Department of southeastern Uruguay. It comprises an approximately 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) long stripe of beaches and landforms and extends on both sides of Route 10.

An exclusive place renowned for its signature cuisine. La Solana restaurant is located beachfront and it features an exclusive deck. The menu offers typical local ingredients, fresh fish and delicious homemade pastas of the Chef Jorge Oyenard. The restaurant is open to the public. We invite you to try our buffet breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. We recommend enjoying the sunset with a drink, with a magnificent ocean view.
We went for lunch outside facing the beach. The lenguado fish was very well prepared and the rocket salad incredible. Caramelized brie and chicken with vegetables cooked in a wok was the plates my friends chose and they were very satisfied. Pudding was a typical Uruguayan desert called Massini which is like a cold cake which is excellent.

Oliva & Sal combines different flavors able to grasp the particular personality of Punta Ballena. Homemade pasta, grilled meats, wood-fired preparations and flavors of the sea, blending in a sophisticated and cozy atmosphere, surrounded by art, nature and excellent service.
I've eaten here several times over the last 3-4 years. There's been a recent ownership/management change resulting in rather inconsistent service and sometimes lack of items on the menu. Proper and adequate serving staff needs work. I will likely return on my next visit since it's quite convenient to my house at Punta Ballena.

The menu was small, but it quickly became clear that's because of an emphasis on quality. The food was amazing! And there was a lot if it. We came in planning to finish with dessert, but had to abandon the idea after the first course.
In a land where meat consumption is celebrated, it was refreshing to accidentally find accidentally a vegetarian restaurant.
The people, uncharacteristic of a lot of places we've stopped here, were warm and friendly, too, making it all the better.
It may not be a place for the overly finicky, but I highly recommend Pachamama.

Excellent Restaurant and Tea House, with superb views of Punta del Este, the Laguna del Sauce and the sea, where you can enjoy a gastronomic service capable of satisfying the most demanding palates.
Usually this is an amazing place. Very unique property with amazing views. This time the wait staff just couldn't seem to get anything right and everything took agonizingly long amounts of time. As I usually love this place, I will return, but a repeat would make me take my business elsewhere

I went there with my wife and some friends with not high expectations, the place is not in a commercial or trendy area in Maldonado city, from outside is like to see a "conventillo", but the experience by itself is unique.
Very warm and cozy place, with a great staff and fantastic food. The Brocoli Noquis and the Boar Chops delicious, we ask some Lamb Empanadas and Sea Food Tatar that were very tasty too.
If you are in punta thinking to try something different, you have to try this place. Remember that they do not take Reservations, so you should go as early as you can.

We went to the museum in the morning and wanted to see more of Casapueblo. We weren't staying there. We took the elevator down to Las Terrazas and had smoothies at the outdoor restaurant just to see more of Casapueblo and for the view. The view and surroundings give my rating a very good score. My rating isn't based on the food, smoothies were just okay and the service was just okay given that we were the first customers of the day.

Dinner with another couple. Nice environment. Reservation was ok. Service is very good. do not expect for a refined place, rather go for good food at reasonable prices. No problems park your car, no problems awating for your table. Continues to be an excellent option.

I was invited for a weekend at Punta del Este, which is an expensive place to stay. 5 minutes to Maldonado the next town we came to Oasis. The food was great, homemade, abundant and fresh. The waiters aged 60+ very efficient and friendly. The price we paid was suprisingly low. We share Asado Canelones Ravioles a la Caruso flan con Chantilly Coca cola and beer for 1000 peso only! I certainly recommend

This restaurant is a hidden gem, as you will only appreciate how cosy it is, when standing inside (from the outside it looks quite anonymous). Once inside, we were greeted by a very friendly waitress, who helped us throughout the evening. We had delicious chicken rolls with red wine followed by very good desserts. Prices are definitely reasonable. You should try this restaurant!

We went on Saturday night and had all the Terrace for us! Very good service and food, incredible view, prices are reasonable. Definitely a place to go if you want to escape the noise of Punta del Este in January
