The views from here are amazing and if you manage to go by when the artisans are out, the shopping is fun too. And on the weekends you'll find amazing parapenting/hangliders to color the skies and make use of the quite strong winds that blow through.

A marvellous "domed" bridge made years ago by an engineering genius. Decades later the flow of traffic rendered it to narrow, so the Uruguayan government in a brilliant decision made another twin bridge next to it... exactly the same as the original with its two distinctive humps.

Best option in Punta del Este. Close to the airport. New Year Eve with Impressive Fires. White Sand. Plenty of little restaurants for night dinner. Magnificent view to Punta Ballena. Serenity at nights (good sleep). Horses to walk under moon light. And Starry indigo night to walk on the beach. Highly Recommended

Always on view when one faces westwards it is worth a visit. One tekes a boat trip from the port of Punta del Este and a few minutes later arrive on the island. It is worth taking a picnic and settling in the peace and quiet at one of the tables dotted around. There is only one beach and it is usually pretty crowded and the beach bar packed as well, hence the picnic idea. A lovely stroll amongst the pine trees and then back again. Not worth spending a whole day there but a pleasant way to spend 3 or 4 hours.

Was the best Lunch we had in Uruguay. By far, a drive to Punta Ballena won't disapoint. The view is spectacular but stay for lunch at the even more stupendous Casa Pueblo. Up the cliff lives the not to be missed Club Hotel Casa Pueblo A mere three hundred pesos each, sent us -9 floors below the street gate into the cliff, only to explore the breath taking Las Terrazas and feast an enjoyable and incredible meal. A must do.

This beach as far as I am concerned is the perfect combo; enough waves for the adventurous, but never too scary for the family-type visitors; perfect for walking and finding treasures, food and snacks nearby, chair and umbrella rentals, and lots of happy people.

Casapueblo is the old summer house of Uruguayan plastic artist and architect Carlos Páez Vilaró, currently a house-sculpture that includes a museum, an art gallery and a hotel called Hotel Casapueblo or Club Hotel Casapueblo. It is located in Punta Ballena, near Punta del Este, Uruguay. The house designed by the architect himself is similar in style to the houses on the Mediterranean coast of Santorini.

What a great spot! We love it. We went with our pet around sunset time. The bar has good music, uncrowded, WiFi and very good service. We ordered fried calamari, beers, destornillador (vodka+orange juice) . Inexpensive . The sunset view is amazing! Free parking. We will go back.

This is the new way to cross the lagoon and it's making the other side of the lagoon more accessible. And that is the problem. It was nice before when you had to cross on a small ferry and made the area less congested. But now there is new construction going up on the other side and soon it will be all developed. A bit of a shame.
