Puntarenas (Spanish pronunciation: [puntaˈɾenas]) is a province of Costa Rica. It is located in the western part of the country, covering most of Costa Rica's Pacific Ocean coast, and it is the largest province in Costa Rica. Clockwise from the northwest it borders on the provinces Guanacaste, Alajuela, San José and Limón, and the neighbouring country of Panama.

This excellent restaurant is only open 4 months, WED-SAT I believe. They only take 12 diners a night, and the start times are nicely staggered to accommodate everyone. The menu is very interesting. They only do a handful of things, but they are done very well. Everything was delicious and exotic with an Asian twist. Ambiance is excellent and mellow. Thank you Hans!

Since we opened over ten years ago, Los Almendros Restaurant has been rated the Number 1 restaurant in Esterillos! We are in the top 10 of over 800 restaurants in the entire province of Puntarenas! We are committed to food sustainability and we use only fresh, local ingredients to create world fusion flavors. Our menu has an eclectic and unique selection of Caribbean, Asian and local dishes. Our dishes are accompanied with green seasonal salads and seasonal fresh sauteed veggies as well as our famous Caribbean Rice ‘en Beans which is cooked with homemade organic coconut milk. Our bar is beautiful with an excellent wine selection as well as unique house-crafted cocktails and craft beer on Tap!! We are located in the heart of Esterillos Oeste, three doors west of the soccer field on the road between Super Sol and the Soccer Field. We are open from 4 pm - 10 pm and are closed on Sundays. We accept all major credit cards as well as cash in US Dollars or local currency (Colones).
Very beautiful spot underneath beach "almendro" trees, The bar has a great selection of craft beers and creative mixed drink menu, as well as local Kombucha! The menu has a interesting fusion of Caribbean and asian cuisine with many choices for vegetarian options. the Pad Thai was my favorite dish, also veggies and tofu in Jerk sauce!

Gringo Curt's Seafood & Visitor Center was established June 2010 and our menu has not changed to date. We have pride in our small menu because it assures that we can provide freshness throughout the year by purchasing fruits, vegetables and fresh fish, locally and daily. There are many benefits to having same day caught fish but one downside is that we cannot guarantee a time that we can open. If we have fish at 12pm, we open. Thank you for your consideration and look forward to your visit Pura Vida!
There were three plates we could choose. Two of them were to be shared with two persons. One of these was vegetarian. The portions are large and the fish was really good. Probably necessary to book one day in advance, especially in high season. We appreciate your kind words.

The Monte Verde area of Costa Rica is incredibly beautiful and incredibly hard to get to because of horrendous mountain roads. Once there it's perhaps not surprising that the cost of restaurants meals is quite high - upwards of $20.00 USD per person with a drink.
One solution is to grab one of the few outdoor seats at tiny Raulito's Pollo and enjoy his spit roasted chicken at a fraction of the price. Raulito does only one thing and does it well - prepare chicken. You can get a few different sides like fries or salad, but it's all about the chicken. Portions are huge and if there's better tasting chicken in Costa Rica, please let me know. You get your choice of breast or thigh. We tried one of each and while I usually prefer dark meat, the white meat was incredibly juicy. We agreed that either one was a great choice.
Total cost for two with a soft drink each - less than $10 USD. Likely to be more locals than tourists.

More then half of the menu is vegetarian with some gluten free options ( call for availability) and are ready to eat in few minutes. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm for breakfast, brunch and lunch and dinner. Mondays closed. Take out or dine in.Catering orders can be picked up or delivered between 5pm and 7pm .Grazie Mille!
We ordered 3 sandwiches from Pronto (take out) - a chicken parm, egplant parm and caprese, and they were delicious! We also ordered 10 meatballs to supplement a kids pasta meal. Our bill came to nearly $70.

If you're spending any time in Montezuma, I'd really recommend this soda. Most of the sodas we went to were fine, but not impressive.
This one is set close to the beach with an awesome view. We split the fried red snapper- a perfect lunch portion for two people. It came with fried yucca and salad. The salsa is SUPER fresh and spicy, so use with caution!
We got to feed some monkeys while waiting for our food, which was definitely fun! No wine or Tequila (sad for me), but they serve Pilsen and imperial, like most places around.
