A place where the tradition, dresses with charm and refinement, where the senses are refined, odors and flavors mingle.A place to stay.
I seldomly write reviews in such a short time span between going to a certain restaurant and describing the gastronomic experience, but I didn’t want to risk losing any vivid memory of this place.
Casa Ti’Augusta is a secluded place in Sobreira Formosa, part of the shale villages of Figueira. With this in mind, it’s an extremely cosy and warm place, without the usual “hot fuss” and movement of bigger restaurants.
We we’re greated by the owner, which was really attentive and explained everything that was on the menu.
The starters we ordered were based on her recommendations and included traditional sausages and an unforgettable olive paste.
As the portions are very generous, we ordered a set of four dishes and shared most of the food between the six of us. We had a Portuguese favorite, which is obviously the roasted cod, but also some true delicacies unknown to all of us, which were the “plangaio” and “afogado da boda”. Everything was great, but on a down note I must say that the garnish that accompanied the “plangaio” was a bit bland.
The desserts were exceptionally well made and included the traditional “tigelada”. I still can’t believe the consistency and taste of the “baba de camelo”, which will be forever in my mind as future reference to this dessert.
To top it of, we had two bottles of red wine, also suggested by the owner and a great option to fill our glasses during this warmful meal.
To finish off, we were offered some seasonal roasted chestnuts and “jeropiga”, a really humbling gift of the house.
When we thought it couldn’t get any better, we left this place with our wallets practically intact, paying less than 20euros per person.
I’d have to say that this was one of my favorite meals in these couple of months. I has a small menu, but keeps true to tradition and savory food. Don’t go if you’re all about fish. In any other case, it’s a “don’t miss” kind of place.

The menu is all composed by local dishes and the flavour is excellent. The restaurant is located on a rustic village that deserves a visit.
This restaurant is also part of a rural tourism so you can spend the night at this village. On sundays you should make a reservation.

Drinks and food in general are exceptional. I love the sangrias (specially the ones from Vinho do Porto and Moscatel), the Deserts ("Gelados Artesanais", "Arroz doce", "Pastel de feijão", among others), the different hamburgers plates (specially the one with wild mushrooms), and the divine "Presa...MoreMuito obrigado pelo seu comentário. Stayed here in April 2016 for three nights whilst house hunting in the area.
Really well kept, clean and charming hotel, with excellent parking and good facilities including a very nice pool (which we did not use as the weather is still a little cool for us)
Food in the restaurant offers lots of local dishes as well as enough international fair to cater to most tastes. Service is first class and the quality and price is very good. We drank local wines which were wonderful and vey well priced. The staff here are excellent and speak vey good english, so for those of us that are still challenged by Portuguese there are no communication problems.
The only negative is that the WiFi is pretty poor in all areas apart from reception. Not a massive problem but slightly inconvenient, otherwise I would have no problem in recommending and would stay again without hesitation.

Quiet, cozy and great food. What more could you ask of a restaurant? The service was also excellent, the waiter was concerned about the service and the food took around 5 to 10 minutes to be served. I recommend this restaurant if you are a local from Proença-a-nova or just passing by.

Here you can feel at home, like you, have visited your grandmother who really wishes you well and wants to see you like a huge ball of meat rolling over when you are leaving. All the food tastes like home. It has reasonable prices.

Bom ambiente, rapidez no serviço, pizzas boas, de massa fina e crocante. Diversidade de escolha e facilidade na troca de ingredientes se necessário.
