Restaurant San Gavino At the foot of the staircase Turritana basilica, surrounded in its medieval charm, is the restaurant San Gavino. A comfortable and elegant place where you can satisfy your taste and taste the best local wines. Here in San Gavino you will find all the typical seafood dishes and ground that Sardinia is able to offer. And award-winning pizzeria for quality and originality. The restaurant has a large and breezy porch surrounded by greenery and intimate dining rooms and fresh to host your lunches and dinners
We spent a great dinner at this place, good location, kind helpful staff. Food was excellent, the best risotto we tried, seafood pasta was very delicious, we very not able to say no for dessert: triamisu was very good, if you are in Porto Torres, go there and have a great Italian lunch or dinner.

Whilst you're unlikely to make Porto Torres a destination given its sprawling, and rather ugly, industrial suburbs if you're ever in the area do not miss Lo Scogliolungo, a recently opened restaurant on the coast a little east of the town centre. Nicely decorated inside with an ecletic mix of objects ranging from old lps (including Julio Iglesias warbling in Italian) to old oars from a rowboat, there is also a generous Terrace looking out to sea. The tables are well spaced and everything is just about perfect. Minor blemishes during our visit were the lack of wifi, which was due to be installed the following week, and the local radio playing over the sound system (I like Bruce Springsteen but I don't need 'Born in the USA' with my Italian seafood). The wine list is excellent with a good range of reasonably priced local wines as well as a great selection of fine champagnes (including Crystal) if you wish to go up market and spend a fortune. The Sardinian beer is on tap. Service is great (though there were few tables during our visit so it could slow at a busier time) - friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The choice and preparation of the food is first rate, and immediately on entering the restaurant there is a table groaning with the various catches of the day - we had a raw seafood selection which comprised oysters, clams, limpets, red prawns, scampi among other goodies, which was memorable. Though the focus is on the sea a table nearby went for the turf rather than the surf options and seemed well satisfied whilst another table of Italians seemed to be devouring everything on the menu with relish. At least out of season there is plenty of parking outside. Long my the quality of this establishment last ! It's great.

So far we've eaten at a dozen restaurants in Sardinia, mostly on the expensive side. This pizzeria offers the same quality of food (and sometimes even better) for a much cheaper price. I've tried fresh oysters which is 9 euros for 4 pcs -- they were fantastic!!! Everywhere else we've been so far would cost around 15 euros. We also tried pizza Zuppetta -- really interesting seafood pizza. A must try!!! The service was also nice and quick. Will definitely come back here again!

center in Porto Torres
Bar Sport was such a pleasant surprise. Located in the center of Porto Torres, a very lively small square, by the looks it didn't seem very promising. We sat and found out that they serve traditional sardinian dishes. I was starving to eat something different from Pasta or Pizza. I ordered myself a sheep stew (stufato di pecora), with carrots and olives, the smell and taste of which, can still make my senses tingle. The service was extremely pleasant, sometimes forgetting to bring water, but always smiling and explaining everything you ask of. Highly recommended.

7 of us in town on business had a wonderful lunch in this establishment. All the local dishes were fantastic, the choice of antipasti was mouthwatering. We were then served a selection of traditional "primi" some made with the local Casarau bread which were a real discovery. The grilled meats were succulent, perfectly cooked, in short a feast for the eyes and the stomach! I can'tt wait to return. Bravissimi!

We went there because of the good recommendations on TripAdvisor but we were highly disappointed! The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived during lunch time - should be a warning.
The ambiance is good, the waiter was friendly (first). After we got the menu we ordered the drinks and we were still looking for what we want to eat when the drinks arrived. The waiter told us then that there is no Pizza for lunch ... thank you! So we were forced to order something else since we had our drinks already and so we had chosen "zuppa di pesce" for two (40€).
After quite a while we got our lunch and we complaint immediately - the soup was much too salty.
But nothing happened "I am sorry" was the onliest word the waiter had to add. Suddenly his ability to speak English was gone...
So we complained again (the fish was overcooked and the seafood not of best quality) because of the salt and the not cleaned prawns (yes, you can clean them before cooking).
The excuse was: "The cook did not add any salt - that is because of the seafood".
Very funny, as a hobby chief I know how to prepare zuppa di pesce or any other seafood or fish. For me this was another evidence that the soup was made "out of can" with simply added fish and seafood.
Additionally we felt sick after that lunch. Therefore, I can not recommend this restaurant at all.

Dined here for lunch, and one of only three tables being served on a quiet December day.
Service was friendly, and wine selection good. The local white (Torbato) paired well with our selections.
A fried mixed seafood selected by the spouse was enjoyed by her, and included fish, calamari, and shrimp, while I had the fried calamari alone. To me, the calamari, while nicely breaded, was just a little tough, perhaps because we only had big rings of the body.
Wine, water, cover, and the two fried dishes totaled €50.

Babbai offers typical Sardinian's dishes from land and sea and pizza cooked in a traditional wood-burning oven. Babbai serves also homemade desserts and a wide selection of Sardinian wines.
I was with my wife recently in Porto Torres (north of Sardinia) searching for a good fish restaurant, just willing to taste the local fish, and the way they cook it.
We were advised by locals about a restaurant in the seaside, but unfortunately it was closed.
Nevertheless, the owner suggested us another restaurant in the same town, so we came to know this understate place with excellent value for money (in our opinion).
The restaurant is in a side street just nearby a local shopping center, and -in spite it doesn't offer fish- we were so happy to get here.
We have tasted real recipes from Sardinia with local food, starting from a 5 stars appetizers, worth of the best rating both for presentation and taste of food: chees, hams, and vegetables, along with other delicacies, let us gain our heart (and stomach!) immediately.
Following it, we have tried a "bis" of pasta, which is basically two small portions of pasta, to try different tastes.
We have tried ravioli and gnocchi with different sauces, both made with local tomatos, meats and cheese, and we were definitely amazed and happy!!
Consider we drunk the local wine "Cannonau", we had difficulties to stand up and the life after such lunch was looking quite more rose than actually it is... in spite we drunk only a glass of wine to stay within the law limits, we decided to walk and breath fresh air before sitting again and driving the car.
The lady serving us was quite smart, friendly polite, and definitely good: we thank her by heart and congratulate with the chef.
Go there respectful, and make space inside your stomach: I suggest you at least one day with no food before coming here, to clean your palate and accomodate what you'll be going to eat.
Not the place for refined ceremonies, yet definitely good genuine food served by a family business staff.

Historical family-owned paninis and pizza place founded in 1977 in the heart of the port town of Porto Torres, on the main square of the Consolata Church. Beside its popular fresh-baked pizzas and the different filled focaccias, it's possible to choose between a very large variety of mouthwatering paninis (over 30 kinds) from the most typical to the most original ones, and many various snacks like tempura veggies, falafel and french fries. Specialised in healthy and natural dishes without lactose and no cholesterol, Il Drago not only proposes local and typical specialities but also a huge choice for vegetarians and vegans ( a good 24 different paninis ) with organic ingredients as seitan, tempeh, smoked tofu, veg-burgers and veg-hotdogs, and a lot more. Perfect for take away, you can also eat inside, on the bar Terrace on the Church's square, or have your meal delivered to your place.
such a wide choice for vegetarians and vegans, for the first time in Sardinia I have spent more than 15 minutes trying to choose among all the great sandwiches I could have as vegetarian. Delicious and fresh food, huge sandwiches and friendly atmosphere. It could be great if there were some tables to eat in but absolutely recommended
