March 18, 2018 Emerita Lamoureux

Plön (German pronunciation: [ˈpløːn]) is the district seat of the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, and has about 8,700 inhabitants. It lies right on the shores of Schleswig-Holstein's biggest lake, the Great Plön Lake, as well as on several smaller lakes, touching the town on virtually all sides. The town's landmark is Plön Castle, a chateau built in the 17th century on a hill overlooking the town.

friendly staff and a great eat at reasonable prices. Due to the fact that every local and every visitor know about this restaurant, the place is always busy and full. I recommend a table reservation if you would like to dine between 1800 and 2000 o'clock where the place is at its busiest

we walked in to buy a bottle of champagne and just enjoy a drink before moving on elsewhere for dinner. We were told we couldn't just have a drink, we had to have a meal too. The restaurant was empty. Bummer for them that they have such strict rules and a stuffy atmosphere.

We went there several times, and each time there was smell of cigarette smoke in the restaurant because the waiters smoke in a room inside the restaurant !!! Otherwise the decoration is modern and the food is very ordinary with a medium quality.

Situated at the yacht club, just at the lake shore this restaurant offers good food. The owner should smile a little bit more often to reduce the little bit stiffness of the atmosphere. Otherwise quite enjoyable

Great service, though not in English! Care is taken in presentation of the food and each bite was a delight. Desserts all have mango in them, we tried two of them and were not disappointed.

Cafe Prinzeninsel

Before reviewing this place i must give you some advice and information.
*Bring cash! This place does not take cards and there is no place close by to go get cash quick and easy.
*Be aware of that its a 1800 m walk ONE way from the closest parking spot to this restaurant. We didnt read anything about this in reviews before going here so after 300 m walking we almost cried when we saw the sign "Restaurant Prinzelinsel 1500 m".......... Especially my girlfriend in very high heels.
So to the actual restaurant and dining experience.
The restaurant and its surroundings are very cute and pictureesque. They restaurant building itself is over 100 years old and feels very "German" in a good way. Lots of flowers and plants around the restaurant is also a nice touch when sitting and enjoying a cold beer outside.
We ordered the veal Wiener Schnitzel with panfried potatoes w bacon and cucumber salad. I asked if the waiter (owner?) could fix some herb butter for the schnitzel wich he did. Very nice service level. The schnitzels where great as the rest of the food. Very rustic, german and GREAT tasting!
The service was kind and attentive even though the waiter didnt speak any english.
If you want great german food in gorgeous setting in Plön and dont mind the walk, this is the place you want to eat!
