How often have you been asked to come to the kitchen to choose your meal? At Taverna Lava we are still living this old Greek tradition, every day. Our philosophy is to provide you an unique food experience for all your senses. We will surprise you every day with home cooked greek delicacies like eggplants rolled with feta cheese, capers and rosemary. Pick your fish - not just what kind of fish - but exactly which one you want and we will grill or fry it freshly for you. Fresh is key for us. Please don't expect us to have fish during full moon or a stormy day - its impossible to get fresh Santorinian fish. Additionally, we partnered up with local farmers and procure produce of Santorinian soil: eggplants, courgette, small tomatoes, wine and much more...If you are tired of choosing from an endless menu, visit us - we will have something new for you to choose from every day.
Having read a number of positive reviews we decided to trust to chance and head off the beaten track to find this restaur ant, which without a sat nav was interesting to say the least. I certainly was having an off night whilst reviewing the restaurant as I did not realise it was a meat free restaurant serving fish only which on arrival threw the proverbial spanner in the works as my wife does not eat fish and I prefer meat. However we were invited to have a traditional Greek tasting platter along with a Santorini salad which was excellent, I had also ordered a serving of calamari and in the end we struggled to finish the servings which were all very tasty. The service was excellent and quaint having no menu or prices displayed, our total bill with copious amounts of wine was still only 46 euros. Should you decide to go and like me not gave a sat nav go to Google maps and photograph the final section of road which is the more complex, best advice is once you pass the Ambeli Apartments on your right take the first turning left down to the beach and then turn right to the taverna car park.

The best Creperie and Pasteria in one of the world's most beautiful Islands, Santorini..!
We visited at least half a dozen times during our 2 week stay in Perissa. The food, drinks and service were all so good that we couldn't possibly stay away for too long. The milk shakes are superb even at 5 euros each. Everything we tried was delicious from the enormous waffles to the various club sandwiches and the hot dogs, the burgers, the fries, the pasta, in fact everything. It was nice to see the same girl waiting on as last year, she is so friendly and smiley it makes you feel good before you've eaten. Prices are good for the quality of food delivered and I can't recommend the place highly enough. Even the view of the magnificent Perissa black sand beach is worth visiting for.

A group of seven of us were all very happy with not only the selection available, but very happy with all that we ordered. Cost was reasonable, and we were impressed with the friendly yet professional service. We highly recommend this restaurant and bar.

We were in Santorini for two weeks, eating out twice a day, and can say - hand on heart - that Tranquilo is up there with Candouni as the best restaurant on the island. Two very different dining experiences but top marks all round!
Love it!

After passing this taverna a couple of times it was always busy but we were a bit put off by the photos of food outside. However we fancied trying the mixed fish plate for two which came with a Greek salad and a half kilo of wine all for €36. We went in and were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They were well organized too. The meal was very nice, the salad being large. The fish plate consisted of two large shrimps, some fried kalamari and two large fish topped with a few nice chips. We really enjoyed it and were then give a complimentary mini magnum. For €36 what’s not to like?!!
We returned the following evening. We asked for bread this time which was lovely and toasty with butter and olive tapenade. We shared a shrimp saganaki for starters which was okay but that’s all. At €13 not good value compared to others we have had elsewhere. It had only a few small peeled shrimps. I had soutsoukakia and OH had chicken souvlaki both which came with rice and frozen chips. It was okay food but just ordinary. We had complementary mini doughnut and as I said previously the service is good and pleasant.
