Old Olive oil Mill, Olive oil Museum, Art Galery Bar Pub and Boat trips Also open school holidays and for groups
Amazing opening! An old mill rebuilt into a restaurant. Definitely worth visiting for a drink or dinner or the gallery inside. The food was good, wide variety. I would recommend choosing a few starters and mains and share them. My favorites were the gazpacho and the cod. Good background music too by the way!

We went there as it has been highly recommended by locals, and no disappointment. Typical Portuguese food, inspired in the traditional Alentejo dishes, very well cooked, nothing fancy, but really good. Service was very friendly and the Deserts amazing. This is not the restaurant if you want a somewhat Michelin restaurant with fancy well decorated dishes. This restaurant worth only due to the food, and worth a visit.

The dogfish soup is just awful. The mest is only pork. Even the "cosido" is made out pf pork when it should be done with lamb.

we had lunch in the restaurant, outstanding formula 10€ all in, with wide range of choice of the dishes, amusing ambiance, nice service

First of all, bring cash to this restaurant. They are still in the middle ages.
The quanty of the food was a lot, however the quality was missing. I took codfish that seems that was fried with salt and my partner took a steak that was not bad although having too much fat.
For the quality offered the price was too high, specialy considering the location and the country.

Visit this wonderful small village and go to Cass do Forno for a great lunch. Very good local soup and the lamb stew type dish was excellent.

Xarez bar offers both inside and outside seats. We appreciated a lot the genuine limonades and came twice during the same day.

Excellent traditional Portuguese food inside a medieval walled city. Lovely food and the owner is a very charming lady called Isabel. Fantastic view as it looks out onto the largest man made lake in Europe. Definitely worth a visit!
So glad to find this restaurant open after several years... very excited to find a regional, and welcoming restaurant ... however, despite a delicious meal - strangely un-be known to us, pre-ordered bread, olives, cheese, chorizo and watercress and cheese..... followed by the dish of our choice....... this would all have been wonderful, but for our confidence in the waiter - some good wine..... how stupid ....
there was no wine list ... he totally saw us coming ...... 35 euros!!! You learn something every day...... won't be taken in that way again

The cafe - restaurant "Taverna - the Templars," is a space that allows enjoy the tasty Mediterranean cuisine and especially the traditional Alentejo, snack, or simply have a coffee at the same time allows enjoy the scenery to the great lake of Alqueva, or involve If a space that portrays the historic monumentality of the village.
After the disappointing diner in Xarez, we dediced to go elsewhere - so we went to Os Templarios, not far from Xarez. Same type of food, same price.
Luckily the service was way better, very friendly.
The food was better as well. For starters there is a great selection of petiscos (go for the regional cheeses). As 2nds we went for the polvo, porc and bacalhau. All prepared as should. Good bold flavours, good amount of food on the plates.
Don't expect fine dining, but go for the truthful regional flavours.
Good coffee as well.
Ow yes, almost forget: the view on the lake - the biggest manmade, artificial, lake in Europe - is magnificent. (But then again, the views everywhere in the Alentejo are exceptional.)

This restaurant didn't look like much from the outside, and it was getting for lunch, however they welcomed me in, and I had a delicious pork and clam casserole.
