We ordered soup and Black Bean burgers. The soup was homemade, hot and delicious. Burgers arrived almost simultaneously so by the time we got around to eating them, they were almost cold. Taste was good though, buns and fixings nice and fresh. Friendly service, very clean and very clean bathrooms.

Our family came here while in town for a hockey tournament. No frills and not fancy but did it ever have charm! Server was very attentive and kind. Food came out quickly and was very tasty. Seems like a local breakfast
hang out! Would come here again in a second!

the food is wonderful - it's innovative, creative, top-quality ingredients, and tasty. the coffee and tea are fantastic. the ambiance is very european in feel - distressed paint, lovely mismatched furniture, and chalkboards.
the prices are WAY expensive. sure, the food's good - but $30 for two bowls of soup, two grilled cheese sandwiches, and two coffees?
the reasons i don't go here: stairs and dogs. there is absolutely NO accessibility for the mobility impaired and since my knees started acting up, i can't make those long flights of stairs any more.
my other MAJOR issue is they do not allow dogs - ANY dogs - on the property and that includes service dogs. this, for me, is a dealbreaker.

This is a great little burger joint right at the river in Minden. Exit Bobcaygeon Rd and you won't miss it. Went in the summer 2013 and was ok, long waits and food was average. Under new MGMT in 2014 and food was better plus the place got a face lift. There are picnic tables right beside the river to enjoy your food and pirate ship playground for the kids. Great poutine large enough for two. They serve Kawartha dairy ice cream and the wait might be a bit shorter than going to the dairy on hwy 35 LOL!

Fresh, Healthy, Exotic & Delicious! Our Management and chefs are Thai... we take great pride in presenting to you authentic Thai Cuisine from Thailand... "Land of Smiles!"
We have warm memories of eating Thai food in Minden, but our experience this time left us unsatisfied. The food was, for the most part, lacking in flavour, especially that popular Thai dish, Pad Thai. It tasted like a block of noodles with hardly any other flavour; I was able to eat it only with a liberal few doses of PC Memories of Thai sauce... fortunately we had take out so the sauce was an option. Though I suppose that if I had been in the restaurant, I would have sent it back.
Cashew chicken was somewhat better. The chicken curry, though described as medium heat, was too hot for me. The mango salad was tasteless, except for the hot spice added... but I was looking for a fresh fruit flavour, with the complex sweet-hot flavours typical of Thai mango salad. The plain rice was overly wet, and the fried rice tasteless.
All in all, a bad meal, with a high price tag. The bill was about 50% higher than we would expect to pay in most Thai restaurants. We avoided the greasy air in the restaurant by 'taking out', but in the future we will avoid all of it. We won't be back for another try.

Patrons of Grill on the Gull say that it offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience with healthy, fresh made, high quality food in a relaxed and beautiful Mediterranean styled decor. Balconies and a large deck hang over the beautiful Gull River are ideal spots for an afternoon or evening getaway. The Grill on the Gull is the only restaurant in Minden to offer waterfront dining. A great spot for celebrating family get togethers, birthdays and other special occasions, Grill on the Gull also offers on-site catering services. Come by boat, come by car, come as you are. Grill on the Gull is ready to serve! The restaurant is located in downtown Minden right beside the bridge on the bank of the Gull River. Reservations are recommended especially on weekends.
My husband and I consider this the 'go to' place for intimate celebrations of any kind when we're at our country home. Food is well-presented and tasty, menu changes with the season and availability of fresh options, and the staff are awesome. Friendly owner Sean often regales with his music, and our favourite waitress Mary-Lou is a highlight! For a tiny town especially, this place is a treasure. We live nearer 'other town' Haliburton, but the trip for goodness is worth it.

We love to cook and bake from scratch so you don't have to. The best breakfast in the county. We have freezers full of carry home cuisine, "Dinner Solutions" and "Sweet Tooth Solutions"
What a strange little restaurant. When we entered we were a bit confused as to what the protocol was. We were ignored and so I approached the counter and asked "Shall we just seat ourselves?" A snappy retort of, "You order from the menu and pick it up here. Have a seat anywhere."
Okay then....!
Two of us ordered the "beef" soup. This was quite disappointing -- it tasted very much like tinned vegetable soup with the addition of minced beef and another tin of tomatoes. It was served with a tea biscuit --- unlike any tea biscuit I'd ever eaten - very soggy and crumbly.
Also ordered: a toasted western. This was served with cheese - but it wasn't ordered that way. The cheese was sliced American cheese - a most unwelcome addition.
Finally a hot beef Sandwich was ordered. For $13 I would expect the presentation to look much better -- it was just one big mess on the plate and like our other choices not very tasty.
All in all not a place we'd ever re-visit. Workers there also were very depressed looking and we didn't see anyone smile at all.

I'm sure the residents of Minden would not consider this to be the middle of nowhere, but during a long motorcycle tour of the Minden/Haliburton/Kawarthas area we pulled into evergreen for a lunch stop.
Excellent food Pulled pork, and Pulled Turkey with homemade salads and baked beans. Highlight of the weekend.
I recommend spending time at the salsa, jam wall where there is something for everyone.
Hey it might not be the middle of nowhere but it is a great restaurant, and I would definitely go back, if I had any idea how to find it again.

We popped in for lunch and I really enjoyed the mushroom/beef and rice soup but the grilled cheese was a little tired. My husband had a chicken club which he said was fine but the plates, cutlery and teapots are just a little too warn to seem clean. But the staff were really friendly and it seemed to be a favourite spot for locals. I'll go back for soup!
