Words cannot describe the wonderful taste of top choice meat grilled to your perfection over an open wood fire. The atmosphere of a 5 star restaurant can be found in this cozy, warm, family owned restaurant. The moment you walk into the door, the aroma of the food makes your taste buds water. The staff greats you and escorts you to your seat. While you may choose off the main menu of many find dishes, there is also a special menu that the Chef has prepared that has always caught my attention. As you decide which meal you would like, the Chef comes around to each table, telling you a little about the “Specials” or the choices of meat and how it is prepared. A very personal approach, as if you are the only customer there. They are so have “Themes” for special times of the year. Our first time was Valentine Day, and now we have made it a tradition. You can even book your reservation on line. But do so early, as the restaurant bookings fills up quickly.

This modern craft brew house (with a long tradition) is located in a beautiful and tall industrial space close to the Merzig Yacht club and harbor. The beer garden is just lovely when the weather permits. The "Saarfuerst" beer which comes in varieties "Hell", "Rot" and "Dark" tastes very good. Service is friendly and fast (sometimes overworked when the beer garden is busy).
The food could use a little TLC, the spear ribs were under-cooked and the Wiener Schnitzel (from Pork) lacked flavor and was carelessly plated. Still a very recommended venue, because of the building, beer and location.

Located in the Altstadt (Old Town), this Bistro is no stranger to the locals. It offers a variety of foods: wings, tortilla chips(Guacamole &Salsa dip), Flammkench(Cream Fraîche , Italienish (onion, tomatoes, mozzarella), Athen (tomatoes, olives, onions, peppers ),Burgers and Schnitzel to name a few.
We enjoy the Klex salad and Sydney Salad (a mix salad full of fresh vegetables , wit pieces of fresh grilled Turkey breast, with just the right amount of a yogurt and curry dressing,
You will also find a full menu of drinks at a reasonable price, A nice warm day sitting out on the Terrence having a salad and Hugo is relaxing.
The staff is friendly, professional and full of life.

We were escorted to the back garden, and pick our seats. The waitress then proceeded in asking us what we would like to have to drink as we looked over the menu. We started out this hot July evening with a Aperol Spritz, enjoying the atmosphere of sitting in the back garden of the restaurant.
The menu offer a variety of dishes : Fish, Beef, Pork, Chicken as well as the Menu of the day.
As we reviewed the menu I had the Lacsschnitte Hummer (Salmon ) and my wife the Hauptgang Menu consisting of fish.
Since we were both having fish we decided on a liter of Auxerrois Blanc , a white wine that is a sibling of a Chardonnay. Fresh and refreshing, as it rolled over the pallets of the tongue.
The salmon was cooked to perfection with a tasteful lobster sauce. The accompaniments were a baked potato with sour cream and chives (my choice) and a garden salad with a delightful vinaigrette dressing.
My wife’s meal consisted of a fillet fish, topped with a cream sauce with chives, a baked potato and a blend of mixed sautéed vegetables.
We enjoyed a lovely meal here; the food was well prepared and tasty. The portions sizes were good.
Felt very welcome in this local restaurant, excellent service and friendly staff.

Interessante Weinkarte.

Friendly ambiance and personel.
For starters we had dolmades, they were fine but seemed heated in the microwave. We had two different greek plates, both of them were very disappointing. The gyros was baked instead of grilled and didn't taste like gyros at all, more like shoarma... The souvlaki was also disappointing. And the bifteki was a total disaster, tasteless and made of the wrong meat. The lamb chops was not eat able.
This restaurant is in my top 5 of worst greek restaurants all times. And I've been in a few...

Das Callari ist ein etwas kühl eingerichtetes Restaurant in Merzig am Seffersbach.

This is reliable spot in the Old Town to sit outside on an nice summer evening, and have a nice meal. The service can be more desirable, with a few more smiles than frowns. It not a very customer orientated. Smiles are limited, and words exchanges among the employees can be heard. The food is well prepared, and a generous portion. At the beginning of the meal, a basket of bread, olives and peppers are served...but removed very quickly upon the arrival of the food. With the establishment being around for years, you would think that better customer service would be almost natural.
