My wife and I ate here on July 6 2014. We were looking for a relatively inexpensive place with decent food. I had the cod "a volante" which means, all you can eat. I think this is a Saturday special. I didn't know and made the mistake of filling up on fries. The cod was cooked well and only lightly breaded which I prefer to a heavy batter.
My wife had the steak and it was also cooked well and tasty.
The pricing was reasonable but not cheap by any means.
The most stand out feature was the service. Our server was cheerful and helped my wife to navagate the menu as she has a hand full of alergies she needs to be mindfull of.
The restaurant itself is quite drab and the interior is warn and dated. It is in a mall which speaks a little to the negative ambiance.
If you are in Matane and would like to try some cod. Brasserie Pub 21 is not a bad choice.

With a few hours to kill before getting the ferry and a raging hunger, we drove around town before finding this little nugget.
Funky little place, interesting decor soon gave way to excellent coffee and breakfasts that hit the spot.
In reality, its probably four stars not five, but I went for the 'excellent' because of the staff. An old local man came in on his own and the staff were just so nice and welcoming to him, you could not help but be impressed with their friendliness. We're all goin to get old sometime and maybe lonely with it, let's hope we have some decent people to go to!
Bravo, well done this place.

I travel for work and being long time away from home, eating good stuff is a problem. So, when I'm in a certain region/area/city I ask around what's the best place to eat. This one is a gem... It's an old 70' motel/hotel meticulously maintained into original aspect. Beautifully located oceanfront, the dining room is original, very clean and well kept. Staff is courteous, knowledgeable of the menu and very nice and the food was delectable. I would suggest the addition of a coffee machine (espresso) and a with a small easy 2 or 3 hours of staff training they would have the best barista in the entire peninsula (cause coffee everywhere here is a mess)...

I like to imagine that if there is such a thing as a pizza from heaven, this is it. Don't even bother showing up (the place is not inviting, although the service is top notch), simply order it from your hotel room or wherever you are staying. The all-dressed pizza is their raison d'être and it would easily appear on my top 5 for taste.

I was going for breakfast on Sunday at this restaurant, witch offers brunch buffet, or a la carte menu. First, we were so hungry, that we decided without looking, to have the buffet.
The choices were not so great, lots of greasy stuff, poor quantity of food in parts of this buffet. The place is spacious, and waiters are very friendly.
I should have chosen an a la carte breakfast, because I could at least had my eggs done the way I wanted, and It would not only been half price, but better.
good spot !

On a Saturday morning, we couldn't seem to find any restaurants that were open in Matane except for fast-food joints so we were glad when we noticed that the Quality Inn & Suites, right on the main road, was serving hungry tourists. Service was quick and pleasant. The menu had a lot to choose from. The meal was delicious and not too over-priced. We took photos with a large statue of a moose before getting back on the road to the Maritimes. Glad we found this place and are able to share it with readers.

The wait for our meal was a little long but we were relaxed so didn't matter. The fish and chips was very fresh and good. Tried a new beer from the microbrasserie sélection during the wait and made nice discoveries.

Like many other establishments in Atlantic Canada, this is a combination of fish/seafood market and restaurant. In places like this one should not expect superb service.
The meal we had was well prepared. A rich seafood salad for my wife, a creamy seafood soup for me, and than escargot (snails) in garlic sauce and extra cheese.
The menu is overpriced in view of the location and the service. (Charging extra $2 for the cheese on is really annoying).

A handy stop off for morning coffee, catch up with the emails on wifi and chill with the newspapers. Apparently this branch was best in Canada. Don't usually like these places and my daughter is hooked on Tim's but it's more than acceptable
and the staff are friendly too.
