Restaurant Ratsschanke serves excellent traditional food that is not overpriced like many of the restaurants in Marburg. Service is very good, English menus, and the staff speaks excellent English. You will get to experience what an old school traditional German restaurant is like. If you are looking to experience traditional German fare in a traditional German restaurant, this is a can't miss location.

Beautiful facilities on the top of the mountain by the castle. Cozy ambiance and friendly staff. And the food was really good, with adequate portions, and tasty dishes. I recommend the mushrooms for entree. The meat we had was cooked to perfection. It is not a cheap place, but you will enjoy the experience, that is for sure.

After we looked at menue and desided to have our snack here.
We sat outside. The taff was very nice and attentive.
We were here by maybe 3 p.m. We could have still have had breakfast.
Pies, pizza, sandwiches and cakes. You choose....
Everything was very tasty. The price is a fair bargain for what you get.
We'll be back the next time.

We had coffee and cake there yesterday as we have every day somewhere in the city. The Cafe is of medium quality if it comes to decor, cake selection and taste of cake and coffee. The tales are very small and if 3 people like us have to sit on a table ment for 4 it is already rather uncomfortable. Sorry to say but we will not return.

We drove from FRA to Marburg to meet a colleague. We walked up to the Schloss and the stopped at Zur Sonne to enjoy its strategic location, wonderful beer, wine and food. It was a very pleasant evening.

It’s a very good cafeteria which reminds a little those which used to be common in Europe at the beginning and in the middle of the last century. Unfortunately they are nowadays rather scant, particularly in big cities. One finds himself very comfortable there. There is no music and usually the people inside talk quietly in a civilized manner. Besides, the decoration, which includes a piano, is very attractive, all having been conceived with much good taste and intelligence. If one sits by the window at the back of the premises by the gallery then he can enjoy a nice view over a part of the city. There is in general a very pleasant and cozy atmosphere in that café. It’s near the Town Hall and the Universitätskirche. So it is a good idea to stop there either before or after visiting one or these attractions or both, or even to have a rest and enjoy a good beverage while walking around in the historical part of Marburg or, should the occasion arise, to have a sweet desert after lunch.
The food and drinks one can have in the place concerned are of a good quality. The undersigned ordered a cup of coffee and a croissant and they were both tasty and the coffee very well prepared. He really enjoyed the moment he spent there.
The waiters or, at least, the one who attended the undersigned, lack a bit of professionalism. The latter, as said, ordered a cup of coffee. Neither sugar nor a moka spoon was brought to him, and there was no sugar pot on the table. Since the sole waiter at that particular moment in the café after having left the aforesaid articles was busy and not close to the undersigned, had this one not been holding some sugar bags in his jacket pocket he would have had to drink a sour coffee, which he doesn’t like.
The oversight on the part of the waiter referred to doesn’t however override the excellence of the place subject matter of this review. It should thus be acknowledged that it’s a very good one where it’s possible to spend a great moment. Therefore it shouldn’t be missed while in Marburg.

This place has a very cozy vibe - there are Seating areas outside and inside.
The organic homemade chocolate and cakes got already reviewed before, but in the summer months this place serves amazing ice cream! They are committed to using mostly organic ingredients and are vegan-friedly.
Although there aren't many options, the flavours are delicious - tried mango and orange - both amazing. My friend had raspberry-champagne.
For a single scoop here you could almost get 2 somewhere else, but it's worth it since you get real fruit flavours, not chemical ones.

Having traveled to Spain many times to savor the Spanish cuisine, my wife and I decided to visit La Siesta during our short-stay in Marburg.
We were incredibly astonished by the popular Spanish Omelet, one of our Spanish favorites, and the fact that it tasted even better than the ones we tried in the Peninsula. The staff is exceptionally professional, friendly and knowledgeable and can even speak a bit of Spanish. Unforgettable are their coffees. I am extremely picky with coffee, and La Siesta has definitely exceeded my expectations.
We would like to recommend this restaurant to anyone in the mood for a mind-blowing experience.

You might think that Marburg, being not exactly near a large body of water, wouldn't be a great place to try seafood.....but you'd be wrong. Just across the street from the Elizabeth Kirche (Church) and up the street a few 100 meters is Korfu....wonderfully run,...MoreVielen Dank für die Bewertung! :) A.Kallioras & Team Taverna Korfu

We loved to find that deliciously creative restaurant in the cute city of Marbug. After a long walk (the restaurant is at one end of the city) we arrived in an oasis of calm and charm : white tablecoths, bouquets of white, pink and yellow lilies, silverware, incredibly reasonable prices, an English-speaking owner who unobtrusively came several times to our table to give us the necessary information and finally an extremely fine cuisine that even served as starters a few portions of their specialties.
We asked for wine by the glass and they generously had us taste the various wines by the glass on offer.
The only advice I would give the cook : do not put too many things on the dessert plate, simplify :-))
