Due to the dissolution of the monasteries the bridge at Kirkham is temporarily closed meaning a bit of a detour was required to get to the Stone Trough, but a generous 50% off the menu had been offered and accepted. We have been before without either of the above and were happy to return. The beer as ever is sublime and the service fantastic. Soon after arrival the fast right arm started launching cutlery and pack up. Starters ordered were 2 nibbles and two smalls for one of the hungrier ones... cough cough, deep fried prawns, white bait, deep fried gherkins and pork popcorn, sausage roll with a slightly unnecessary ragout for another, and soup in replacement of the seafood chowder. The minature Ben Stokes found a soul mate in the form of Ben, the largest dog/dire wolf you will see outside of Game of Thrones and took great delight in launching said pork popcorn to Ben the gentle giant hound, much in turn to his delight. Mains were medium ribeye for the chaps, and a burger a piece for the ladies, duly finished by the dog warden. We even managed sticky toffee puddings between us, clean plates all around. We then went for a short, guilt walk down to the priory and back before a short zzz on the way back.... not the driver yay! Food is excellent, service friendly, efficient and attentive without being over blown. Keep it up team.

Called in after a trip around the Yorkshire coast managed to squeeze three of us in - family are regular visitors - as always place was rammed even on a wet Tuesday night in February - great friendly buzzing atmosphere - my usual choice is calzone which is a great size and great value - the supersized house red also great value - for an authentic Italian in North Yorks and great value - hard to beat

The Award-winning Bay Horse Pub, Burythorpe. Serving a selection of our own & guest ales. Open every day from 11:30. Delicious lunches served from 12:00-2:00
Popped in for lunch on the way to a weekend in Hutton-Le-Hole and it was the perfect start to our break away with friends. Warm cosy atmosphere, log burning fire, candles on your table, friendly staff topped by excellent beer and food. What more can you ask for?
As per our last visit (sadly a year ago - must make more effort to get here) we stuck to sandwiches ( ham, beef and cheese) and portions of home made chips washed down with perfect ale. Would love to be staying local so we could enjoy the place for much longer. Really can’t wait to come back.

New Free house with good food, open all day. Opened end August 2011
We were wandering around Malton on a late Sunday afternoon, thinking from it's ghost town appearance we would not be able to get anything to eat - and then we struck lucky with the New Malton! They very kindly fitted us in between bookings - (and that they were essentially booked up was a good sign), and it was also dog friendly (thumbs up) . I had smoked cod, with a poached egg - it was delicious, everything perfectly cooked. Fresh, good quality and very tasty. My partner had the roast beef, and was likewise impressed. Too often the roast meats on a Sunday can be a bit 'tired' - this had definitely not been hanging around all afternoon, and was beautifully roasted, slightly pink with plenty of veg, roast potatoes etc. Superb standard, really impressed. We would definitely recommend and look forward to going back.

Visited some friends nearby and went for a meal. The lady owner was so helpful as our friend is a vegan, bought out samples of some food and was great at recommending dishes.
The food was the best Cantonese I've ever had, clean, tasty and reasonably priced.
I cannot fault this place and we hope to return. 4 of us, plus drinks £111 so very reasonable for what we had.
It's beautifully decorated. You sit in a lounge area and order from there then you're shown to your table when the food arrives, I've never had this before but I liked it.

Pub in scagglethorpe
What a lovely place to call in to, Driving home last night, feeling a bit peckish, we saw this "Oasis" through the trees,"Lets just have a Quick sandwich" says the wife.
We were given a warm welcome, and invited to sit "anywhere", we chose a large leather Sofa in front of a log burning stove & ordered Ham Sandwich with chips On its arrival the wifes first responce was "I cant eat all this", but (to my dissapointment) she did have a good go at it.
Turned out to be a lovely "snack" well worth the money.
We will be calling again.

We champion the use of fresh produce from local suppliers and our seasonal menus are created by Head Chef Dan Graham. Expect a journey of exciting flavours and textures showcasing the best of Yorkshire produce. The wine list is carefully put together to offer a varied choice to suit all pockets and palates including, from Bordeaux, the aptly named Chateau Talbot.
Went for the 9 course taster menu by previous master chef finalist Dan Graham - best food i have ever tasted, each and every course impressed. Its a brilliant menu and the team has some talent! well done all.

Stopped off for lunch on Saturday 27th January and the 'Cheeky' Pie was excellent and no problem asking for both mash and chunky chips with it. If I lived locally to this place I would definitely be going to eat on a regular basis. Also, nice pint of real ale with the meal.

Visited one afternoon and ordered buttered crumpets. I was very unimpressed, as the crumpets could have barely seen the grill or toaster. In my humble opinion, English crumpets should be toasted until golden brown. I don't think I will be returning.
