In having visited the Gaol over 35 years ago with a young family I had Reservations about revisiting it. But now, with informative displays in rooms, it made the visit a worthwhile venture. Stayed over an hour and was entranced with the history and details that was displayed.

Hi,
As a photographer, the sandhills are awesome, just don't go on a windy day or you'll need googles. They are really interesting to drive around, let the kids play in the sand, take a few snaps and maybe have a picnic lunch. Well worth a look. Lots of lovely native plants out in Spring.

probably the must see attraction in Wentworth. very interesting too see the contrast in colour between the mighty murray and it’s little brother the Darling. head further along to see the Lock and also head out of town a few mins near the hospital to walk along junction island and see the canoe tree.

We visited the Pioneer Museum which is run by the local Rotary club. It truly does have a huge amount of memorabilia dating back many years. Vintage cars, hospital equipment, household items and much much more. They also have a display of Dinosaurs giving you an idea of what they looked like when roaming the earth.

While staying in Mildura visiting relatives, I took a drive to Wentworth. Have been here a few times, but this time the town appears to be under revitalisation with lots of new shops, including art and craft. Stopped at the café to have some lunch. The café has a lovely atmosphere about it. While it has a modern feel about it, it still maintains an outback feel too. Also the attached gallery means there is lots of art to look at. For lunch I had the beef stew which was just right. And the hot chocolate made just how I like it. The staff were really friendly and provided excellent service. I would highly recommend visiting the café and also taking a trip to Wentworth just to check it out and see the new businesses.

I have a soft spot for Massey Fergusson tractors, but for the people of Wentworth, they have a place of significance across the entire town.
These wonderful small tractors, for which parts are still available for all models, saved the town from being inundated by floodwater in 1956.
The tractor sculpture commemorates this. Indeed during our visit to Wentworth 50th anniversary celebrations of the town being saved by these popular and reliable tractors was taking place. The entire town was awash with "Fergies", who were all congregating at the local oval for special commemorations and festivities.
The monument is located en route from the main street, to the park where the Darling and Murray converge.
I was sufficiently moved by the Fergie monument to take a photo and it has increased my respect for these special tractors more than ever!

If you're looking for a shady, river front area to have a picnic - check out the Wentworth Wharf. There's plenty of shade under the trees, picnic tables and grassy areas to sit. You can walk along the wharf or the river, and can head up the step to the bridge. There's a footpath that traverses the bridge, enabling pedestrians to stroll over it and admire the view of the Darling River below and beyond.
Take lunch or snacks with you, or buy from one of the shops on the main streets of Wentworth.

after checking out the murray-darling lookout head around the corner to the canoe tree and junction island nature reserve. from the reserve car park it’s around a 15 min walk to lookout at end of junction island. along the way marvel at the huge gum trees and read the interpretation signs
TIP: be mindful of snakes and pay attention
