"La Capinera" is considered one of the best Italian restaurants. Michelin starred and consecrated by critics and the most prestigious international circuits, combines the creativity of the chef D'Agostino with regional typicality of excellence, creating the best reinterpretation of the Sicilian culinary tradition. From fish to vegetables, from Slow Food to the numerous Sicilian oils: the quality of raw materials is the other side of the success of La Capinera (along with the chef's touch, of course). The restaurant is located in Taormina mare, comfortably away from the bustling tourist center of the small and cantilevered on the splendor of the Ionian sea. The interiors reflect the chef's philosophy: elegant and comfortable environment, but able to communicate with the friendly and pleasant simplicity typical of the experience "La Capinera". The Terrace in the summer, offers further unique suggestion: flavors, colors and scents of the Mediterranean, to be returned to lovers of beauty.
I had quite high expectations as the restaurant to my understanding has one Michelin star. After dinner I was left with mixed feelings as some of the tasting menu dishes were great, some were just ok and a few were not good. Same goes for service. It was not consistent.
The first time ever I have had to send something back to the kitchen in a restaurant like this. One of the dishes in the tasting menu was tuna. Our group of four persons had three overcooked (well done) and one medium/medium rare. It took the staff surprisingly long to deliver three new ones.

As this restaurant was only a couple of minutes stroll from the hotel, we ended up eating here twice and was not disappointed. The service can be a little slow at times but the food more than makes up for it. Try the Beccafino sardines - they're delicious.

We found this place just by chance and there are no regrets. The dishes are beautifully done, very tasty, i really enjoyed the cozze pepata and gratin. The restaurant has a very knowledgeable sommelier, who is very friendly and recommends you wonderful wines. Because of the location with views to the sea and Taormina it is always very busy, so book a table; definitely a great restaurant with a great atmosphere.

pina and lina speak English, they offer the best sea food and Sicilian food
Arco Rosso was recommended to us by someone in Siracusa. We spend two evenings looking for it in the wrong place. So when we found it, we decided to give it a try despite being the only customers. I'm glad we did, because the tomato soup was so good, everybody should give it a try. The antipasta was good, as was the shrimp cocktail. The rollade Messina style (forgot the italian name) was also good. The desert was a mouse with ricotta and candied fruit that we got on the house. It was great. So, eating in Arco Rosso is recommended.

Boasting one of the most magical backdrops, a timeless Panorama in which Mount Etna and Capo Taormina are the stars of the show, the Restaurant matches its location with spectacular Sicilian and Mediterranean cuisine. The menu focuses on mouthwatering seasonal produce and local specialties, including Pachino cherry tomatoes, Bronte pistachios, capers from Salina, red garlic from Nubia, and fine regional wines such as Nero d’Avola and Moscato di Pantelleria.Reserve your table on the beautiful Terrace or in the elegant dining room for an exceptional gastronomic experience.
We had dinner at the Timeo on 9/26. Beautiful views with complimentary lightening show thanks to Mother Nature! First misstep was only a prix fix menu accompanied by different champagnes. No warning or choice of wines. Maitre'd had an attitude that was not pleasant! When we quietly informed him that the second champagne was spoiled he recoiled in horror and protested that was impossible!! We suggested that he smell it....enough said. He poured a different wine.
For 190 euros each we expected better! Big disappointment.
Also this is Michelin recommended, not starred as he insisted.

Simple menu, all the Italian classics, but very well cooked. Best Carbonera ever. Good pizzas, good wines, very pleasant staff.

Good tasting Sea Bream, outdoor Seating in front and rear. Beware biting insects in rear outside Seating area.
This resataurant is located on the via nazionale road at the bottom of the funivia near the beach.
The service is very good, food very well cooked and beautifully presented, but quite expensive. We had Sea Bream served with 3 small pieces of potato priced at about €25, the wine list very extensive and expensive. We had one glass of house red, one course and left hungry and lighter of wallet.

We were walking around very pretty (but also very busy) Taormina. We just came from Calabria, where we had some of the best pastries and cookies we've ever tasted.
The products here looked good as well. So we bought some cookies and sweets (tried some of the sweets before buying).
The cookies (pistachio, amaretti and others) were just ok. Nothing close to the ones from Nicotera in Calabria. And the sweets (chocolate covered almonds etc.) were nothing like the ones we got for a free sample beforehand. Not sure they weren't as fresh or just not the same at all.
It's nothing really bad. Stuff really looks good and tasty. But in the end the taste doesn't live up to the look. Should've gone for Cannoli I guess.
