For our last night in Switzerland, we decided to splash out and go to our favourite restaurant. OK, this place is blisteringly expensive (even by Swiss standards) but it is worth every penny.
We go there regularly (that means about once a year) not frequently, but are always met as long lost friends.
The restaurant is intimate with about 25 covers, superb food and a hostess that makes each diner feel they are the only people to be looked after that evening.
If you are looking for special night out, then save up the pennies and head for this restaurant.
If you are heading out for that special meal after May, the owners will have moved to new premises in Oberwil (Schluessel). Don't be put off by the larger premises, they clearly understand what has made them successful and will keep to the 25 or so covers ensuring the personal service is maintained.

We've not stayed at the hotel, so I can't say anything about the rooms, but we've dined there countless times, the most recent time last week. We often go there when we're staying in Switzerland (part of every year - my husband is Swiss). This place has many things going for it. The restaurant offers traditional Swiss food, and a good variety of it at prices that seem really reasonable for Switzerland. The waitresses are extremly friendly and attentive, and serivce is prompt. The restaurant consists of the main, fairly small section (about six tables), as well as a dining hall for the hotel guests. There are also seasonal dishes.
In the summer, there's outdoor Seating in the yard under large chestnut trees, and barbecue dinners are offered - as well as a nice salad bar - and of course ice cream. The public parking lot outside is not for free, but the restaurant has its own parking lot - not really large - beside the building. You need to drive to the very end of the parking lot past the last spaces, almsot onto the forecouirt of the monastery church, then turn right through wrought-iron gates into the walled yard of the Post. (then large parking lot at the entrance of the village is also free and a mere five minutes' walk from the restaurant).
This restaurant makes a fantastic stop before or after visits to several nearby attractions: first and foremost the monastery and its church, the walk up past the village and along the edge of the woods to the little chapel, or a slightly longer walk to the old castle of Rotberg, now a youth hostel - or just a walk in the woods all around. If you just want the countryside and the restaurant, avoid Catholic holidays, as the place is then simply packed and there's no parking for your car left, nor a chair to sit on at the restaurant.

We went to La Couronne d'Or as a group of 11 for dinner in the evening and maybe the group got too big. We were encouraged to chose a limited variation from the menu to save time and not wait long. We practically all had the same steak and most people seemed to like it. I was not impressed with mine which was much more rare than ordered. My starter with a salad with chèvre chaud was very tasty and fresh. The service was friendly. Not much to complain about, but not much to be impressed by either. The place looks nice inside with a good atmosphere.

Excellent in all respects. The view is amazing, the food is top class, the wine list is applaudable and the service is beyond reproach. The dining room is perched on a hillside overlooking France, Switzerland and Germany. The Basel skyline is clearly seen beyond the beautiful green fields.

We had dinner here on a Saturday evening and enjoyed it very much. The restaurant specializes in Italian cuisine. We both tried the menu of the month. It was a real pleasure to be welcomed by a glass of prosecco on the house. The sformatino di asparagi (a small asparagus pie) was a delicious starter. My primo was gnocchi with vongole, really good. I was a little disappointed in the main course (pork), but that may just be that I'm not really a fan of pork. We had a fantastic Bolgheri to drink with our meal. The wine list is exclusively Italian, with a wide range of regional wines. The four-course menu was reasonably priced (for Switzerland), though I think that the wine list is a little on the expensive side. All in all, a restaurant I can warmly recommend.

We love this place. Right near the centre of the town with excellent parking, restaurant and free wifi. The rooms are large, warm and modern. Thoroughly recommended.

My husband, 7 month old son and I have been traveling Europe for the past 3 weeks. This Italian restaurant is a hidden gem. If you are travelling close to Basel it's a definite stop! Great food, excellent service and an owner who makes you feel welcomed. Check it out!!

An old fashioned town hotel with a modern outlook. Staff are exceedingly friendly and helpful. Restaurant food is high class. If you are in the area stay or eat here.

This restaurant offers a variety of traditional dishes. The inside is divided into the general part as well as a more flashy dining section with white tablecloths and linen napkins. In the summer the front patio is always full. Located across from the monastery, the place is always busy, and sitting in the yard you can look across at the majestic façade of the soaring front of the impressive church. The food is good and service is friendly and attentive. It's certainly not cheap, but on a par with other restaurants in Switzerland. Restaurant parking is round the back, and somewhat limited, but there's a very large parking lot with free parking some 1000 feet away at the entrance of the hamlet, as well as some paid parking on the village square right outside the restaurant. Extra tip: very often the farm right next to the Jura sells its own produce such as honey, cider, loaves of bread and certain types of salad and fruit, depending on the season. The whole place is very well worth a visit.

A new nice beautiful Restaurant with a wonderful fresh kitchen Art!Local meat and european wines.
I stayed there for only 1 day unfortunately but I had the chance to discover how amazing this hotel and its restaurant are. The architecture of the building is traditional and the atmosphere in it the coziest you can find. The room was perfect. It had all the amenities a modern room can have and at the same time it was like a fairy tale room from the past.
The restaurant had great food and variety. Very friendly people also. They love what they do and this is obvious. Thank you very much!
