Our group stopped at this restaurant to take a break from Cuban cuisine. The chef/owner has trained in Italy and impressed all of us with the quality of the food and the large portions.
I'm told the pizzas are really good but she was not able to accommodate pizzas for our large group. That said, the special on offer (lasagne with chicken parmesan, or more of a chicken cordon blue) was a huge hit with those who tried it.
The pastas were tasty and authentic. We all appreciated the taste and quality. The violinist who performed was an additional treat!

On the second floor is a casa particular Caballo Blanco Pepe II. We made a reservation online, paid a deposit and upon arrival, we never felt this unwelcome on Cuba (always stayed in casas particular). At first when he opened the door, the first reaction we've got was; "we have no more free rooms". Then we said we had a reservation and told us our name, again no reaction. When my husband went to the car to get our confirmation and voucher, the man disappeared leaving us standing on the porch. When he returned he simply announced that some other guests decided to stay longer, so our room was gone ! Luckily there was another casa across the road. And there our car could even be parked behind the gate.

Have been there a couple of times and for Cuba I must say that their pizza is better than most. I brought my parents and other members of my family and we had a pretty good experience except for second time the pizza took a long while to come. I would have rated it excellent just for that. I would still recommend and encourage to experience it at least once if passing through. I would hope they've changed their ways for a little better service.

On first glance it almost looked like a mini Montréal Supper Club. Not too big but very swank for small city Cuba. The dinner was quite fine, the chicken dish great, although the camarones a tad burnt. Good salad and a finely stalked bar. The cocktails were 3 CUC each and of high tastin' quality. The Pina Coladas were going down like Margaritas.
Small but clean bathrooms and a few stools at the bar with a small lounge area beside it. Neither time we came here, the place was too busy and at about 35 CUC, tip included, for two people with a couple of cocktails each for dessert, we were satisfied.
I'll give it high marks for originality. The air conditioning was a colossal blessing in itself.
