I visited this restaurant recently, just for coffee after an afternoon in Largs. We both wanted coffee, however they did not offer an alternative to dairy milk (soya milk) so my friend had black tea instead. I find it incredible that such a large establishment does not have non dairy milk, even when their menu states 'if you have any special dietary requirements ask a member of staff'. I have visited much smaller cafes who had several options for non dairy milk. Also noticed no sweeteners included in the sugar bowls on any tables. Having said that, we both enjoyed our drinks, and would revisit.

Went for a lunch at The George in Largs. Have to say the food was very good and very good value for money. One of the better establishments to eat in Largs. If you looking for a good inexpensive lunch then give the George a try.

Cafe/Bistro specialising in local produce and Gluten Free options. Well behaved dogs welcome. Recently won best cafe/bistro in the West of Scotland and best in Scotland at the food awards Scotland on 15th August 2016.
I have always enjoyed The Bagel Basket but was unimpressed this week. Sausage was over cooked and tasted a bit funny. Toast was over done. Asked for alternative to beans but didn’t get anything. I will go back but not sure if I will have the breakfast again. Lovely cup of tea though.

My girlfriend and I have just finished an absolutely fantastic meal and evening in Scotts. Credit when credit is due this restaurant has it all!!
Great menu selection and tasty food, lovely and attentive staff that can’t do enough for you without breathing down your neck & the cocktails are delicious, Between the both of us we sampled a few
Mostly use Treehouse and Lido as they are closer to us but this was well worth the taxi home.
Would recommend booking though as the place was packed throughout our stay.

Popped in here for lunch last week. it looks very nice from outside.
There are some really strange oddities about this place. Firstly you enter into a strange hallway closed in by frosted doors. Like entering a secret club. Then you go in and it is an absolute time warp. Looks unchanged since the 70's and the owner I think said he'd been there 35 years. Even stranger and annoyingly there is a big sign do not put anything on the widow sill. It was a big wide strong wooden sill. There was no room to put my small handbag at my feet as the chair leg touched the radiator. Naturally I could not put it on the other side or I or the waiter might fall over it. I asked why ? and was told ''I don't like it''.
So we thought oh no the food here is going to be awful, shall we run away (through the closed frosted doors) but no we are game for anything. Give it a go.
Ordered the deal on the board outside. Roast beef & Yorkshire pud with a free glass of wine each.
We waited in great trepidation, surprising the owner, I think, by explaining we don't drink please could we have a diet soft drink. Yes no problem. He even broke a smile.
Profit my husband said !!!!
The meal came very quickly. The plates and the food was piping hot.
A really good honest plateful of well cooked food.
It really was like a 1970's Sunday lunch and it was excellent.
In fact my husbands pate which was considerably bigger than mine (another hark back to the bygone days of men getting large portions) ? was superb. My plate was ample enough but his was even better.
He had 2 of the largest thickest slices of roast beef you have ever seen in your life. They were like steaks. wow.
What a surprise. The veg were al dente the gravy subline.
So the food was blooming marvellous.
If you want to time travel and get a good old fashioned meal this is the place to go.
No complaints about the food what so ever. I hope it never changes really. Took me back to childhood meals out in Scarborough in 1970, idiosyncrasies and all !

Nearly walked by this place as it's not very well signposted.
My wife just happened to notice the sign on our way past.
The food was great as was the service.
Reasonable prices and portions were very generous too.
Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Whilst visiting friends last Wednesday (20th September 2017) decided to return to this venue that has always provided terrific food.
Telephoned the previous day and was informed that no Reservations are taken for the cafe.
The following day in the heavy rain with a young child we drove to the venue. On our arrival at 7pm we discovered that the restaurant was closed for a private function - a childrens fashion show. When we looked inside there was less than a quarter of the Seating area occupied. We wished that when we had telephoned the previous day that the member of staff had informed us of the closure.
We were then told by the member of staff in the ice cream parlour that the other shop was open by the quayside. We walked down the road in the wind and rain to discover that the restaurant was also closed.
The whole event was a complete was of time having driven some 35 miles each way.
Strongly advise that you telephone prior to visiting to ensure that the venue is open.

We are a friendly independent Coffee Shop and Gallery, our focus is "fresh not frozen" and have a daily choice of 3 or 4 homemade soup with vegetarian and Gluten free option. We also do fresh sandwiches, panini’s, baked potato’s and salad and all rounded of with a good choice of homemade cakes.
Had lunch today which was delicious and very well presented , friendly and attentive staff too. Not an empty table in the place which is a good sign. Would definitely recommend and will return soon
