Lahnstein (German pronunciation: [ˈlaːnʃtaɪn]) is a verband-free town of Rhein-Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated at the confluence of the Lahn River with the Rhine, approximately 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) south of Koblenz. Lahnstein was created in 1969 by the merger of the previously independent towns of Oberlahnstein (or Upper Lahnstein) on the south side of the Lahn (above the river mouth) and Niederlahnstein on the north side (below the river mouth).

Wonderful Italian food, great if you want a change from the German food. Ask for their recommendations of the wine. They provide excellent Italian wine by the glass.
If the weather is cool as for a table in the conservatory. "al fresco" without your food getting cold.

The Winzerhaus is a delightful German gasthaus! Wonderful food, not pretentious, and very warm and welcoming. With just three nights in Oberlahnstein and having eaten there the first night, we loved the food, service and atmosphere so much that we returned for our next two nights. The schnitzels we had were all outstanding! If they have a venison stew, by all means, try it; it will be tasty and tender. The other customers were middle age and upwards in age; so if you are in your 20's and "looking for some action", go elsewhere. But if you want to experience a traditional German gasthaus with great food, this is the place to go! With the other customers enjoying themselves so much, you are bound to do the same!

On a busy Saturday lunchtime, we were lucky to find a small table, order beers and... food which the waiter forgot about! After 1 hour he came to tell us that he made a mistake and that he was going to ask the chef how long it would take. Long story short: 2 hours for a sausage and some spare ribs. Frustrating.

This is an Italian Restaurant with very good food and excellent wines at decent prices. Let the chef advise you about the wine and you will not go wrong!

Very good quality ingredients, cooked in the traditional Greek way. What is not too like? Excellent service and setting is nice.

This restaurant is very serious about their steaks. Had a filetsteak and it was one of the best I have ever tasted ever- and I have eaten quite a lot of them. Extremely nice and committed staff. They have a salatbar that is an experience in display and content. Special European/Asian atmosphere in this place. Very nice experience.

Was in Koblenz on business trip and chose Los Gauchos. There was 6 in my party. We had the house special fillet steak which was finished being prepared at our table. Los Gauchos are serious about their beef it was perfectly cooked to each request. Amazing. Staff were very attentive even though the restaurant was full to capacity. I will highly recommend and return again.

Nice authentic atmosphere. The food was not spectaculair, schnitzels were poor. Service was ok, but one of the serving ladies made quite a show of being frustrated that we made stains on the placemats. Unnecessary hostility does not add to the experience at all.

As non German speaking tourists (first night in the country!) communicating was "interesting" as we tried to navigate our order with the very friendly staff of Chinagarten - who were clearly not of German origin!!
Lahnstein seems like a very quiet town, situated on the Rhein river. We therefore were surprised how busy the Chinagarten was on a Wednseday night. Clearly a popular venue.
The staff were very friendly and when they determined our language of comfort, provided a menu in English. We ordered with little problem and our dishes were both excellent. As we were in a hurry we had jasmine tea and coffee to finish and the only issue we would have was that both were too hot. Otherwise an excellent evening meal. I even had a fortune cookie with my coffee! Can't remember when I last had one!

Maximilian's can accommodate some 1500 people if you take into account the Seating both inside and out so getting a table isn't usually a problem. Despite the size of the place the service was fast and friendly, with English menus available. The food we found to be very good as was the beer, especially the alcohol free pils on tap. The atmosphere was terrific and you can watch the river traffic on the Rhine as you feast on pork knuckle.
