Kelsterbach is a town in Groß-Gerau district in Hessen, Germany and part of the Frankfurt Rhein-Main urban area. It is located on Frankfurt's southwestern outskirts at a bend on the left bank of the river Main, right where a small brook, called the Kelster (and Bach means "brook") joins the river.

Traditional German menu, what Germans call "gut bürgerliche Küche", an excellent selection of Rhine and Mosel wines, pleasant atmosphere, friendly service--something not to be taken for granted in Europe--, some English spoken, reasonable prices for this location near Frankfurt, right off the A3 and A5 freeways. Parking is tight but public parking garage across the street. Nice outdoor Seating in the summer.

Our last day in Germany, we sayed at the Mercure Hotel near Frankfurt Airport. Not wanting hotel food, we looked for something close by. We were delighted to discover Zum Grunen Baum in Kelsterbach, just 15 minutes away by auto. It is a Greek / German restaurant with patio dining overlooking the Main river. We thought the food was very good and affordable... stick with the daily specialties. The restaurant is run by a Greek / German family who lives next door. Service was slow by American standards but that was OK with us; we were happy to liner and watch the river. And the brothers who waited on us were very pleasant. A great place to end the trip, especially when so near the airport.

Staying for one night at IBIS Hotel and were not impressed with there restaurant options. By chance wandered in to this little pub. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Beer was good and service was pleasant. Has the appearance of a sports ba but food was great. Not a huge menu but several pork dishes. A chicken dish and beef steak as well. Out if the way spot but great for folks staying in hotels without a decent restaurant... I would recommend it.

In the past when staying at Frankfurt airport we've gone into the town, which has cost a fortune in taxi fares. Looking for somewhere nearer I discovered this seriously authentic Italian restaurant offering both a trattoria and an upscale menu, so everything from Pizza to serious dining.
The service was very good, the food was absolutely excellent. I had pasta with rapini after a very good antipasto. We were sat in the main restaurant but requested the trattoria menu and there was no problem at all. If you have to spend a night at Frankfurt airport don't eat at the hotel, get in a taxi and try this place, and they'll order a cab to take you back. It was wonderful and I'll be back next year I hope.

You couldn't get a more typical Italian pizzeria than the Amalfi: wood-fired oven, chequered tablecloths on the tables, shelves of wine bottles and wall murals of the "Costiera Amalfitana". The pizzaiolo himself (i.e. chef) looks like the quintessential Italian guy from Naples.
The staff is very friendly (at least after a bit of ice-breaking) and the atmosphere very family-like.
The food is pretty good and that is also the opinion of a few colleagues of mine whom I took to this restaurant and were happy to come back. I tried a number of pizzas and a couple of pastas and always left full up and satisfied. They are also happy to make customised pizzas, if you fancy some particular combination of toppings.
The only thing I would change of their pizza recipe is the amount of salt in the dough; I'm sure a lot of people like it pretty salty, but I would definitely prefer a "reduced salt" or even "no-salt" pizza (could that be an idea for a "Tuscan pizza"? I think it would be great).
I'll probably be back again in Frankfurt for business, sooner or later, and already know where to go for dinner, when I'm near the airport.

Ate on an early Tuesday evening, only 3 other tables occupied. Large menu with so many choices of pizza, pastas, meat, fish. Split a pizza, salads, the best spinach tortellini we've ever tasted and a really good Montepulciano wine. Service was a little odd, she kept going outside in the plastic covered patio to smoke, but received our food promptly. Small restaurant with really good food. Would have returned if we stayed in the area longer. They do take credit cards, some parking available next to the restaurant. Walkable from some of the airport hotels in the neighborhood. Enjoyed our dinner very much.

Not a fancy place; no aiming for Michelin stars here. Just good, simple Italian cuisine cooked with care, along with friendly service in a pleasant environment, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I enjoyed it so much I'm going back again tonight. Highly recommended and excellent value.

It's a small place, beautiful in summer as you may sit outside. The food is either international or spanish, in any case always superb. We had a salad with roasted chicken as main course, the kids had tapas. Everything freshly prepared and delicious. You need to make a reservation as the place is fully booked every night.

I really like this place…great and luxury atmosphere, amazing food with plenty of delicious appetizers and really tasty main courses (with choose to eat meat).
All the staff was very kind and polite and you can feel that they know perfect how to run a restaurant
A very good Greek restaurant with high standards far from Greece…I hope to see you again

This was a reasonably priced small restaurant with good food and great service. It had Greek as well as German specialties, and I believe even pasta - something for everyone. It looked like it may have previously been a trout farm restaurant.
