Stunning views of Castlebay and the world famous Kisimul Castle from The Deck. Hebridean Toffee, Scottish tablet made daily and also fresh baking and much more in the summer season. A tasteful gift shop inside with many unique gift ideas and crafts from Barra
Went here twice after doing water activities, once for coffee and cake and once for lunch. Coffee very good, cake very good and food very good. Staff friendly and good. Only outside Seating so gets busy when good weather and does offer Takeout. Would definitely recommend.

We had a lot of trouble trying to book a table, which we were led to believe was necessary. It turned out that the restaurant had to close for a few days, but there was no note on the door to say so and no message service on the phone - we found out from tourist information. In fact there were plenty of tables when we went at 8pm. The menu had been limited, so that only curries were available and some of the drinks were also not on offer. However our food was very tasty and service was friendly. The restaurant was decorated with local art, and it felt cosy.

Arriving from the ferry at 6.15 we had pre booked a table at the Castlebay Hotel. A warm welcome with time to sit and read the menu over a glass of wine. I ordered fish which was absolutely delicious. We paid about £40 for two meals, two glasses of red wine and two gin and tonics. First class and a great start to our stay on Barra.

As non residents we had dinner In this small hotel. Staff were very friendly, food was outstanding and prices were very reasonable. My wife had local scallops and black pudding, neither of us had seen such big and sweet tasting scallops. Recommend without hesitation.

We love our trips to Barra and one of the highlights is a trip to the novel Barra Chippy Bus!! The fact it is so popular with the locals speaks volumes.
The food is very fresh and good quality, and is freshly cooked to order. You can't beat locally sourced produce, and their fish supper is the star of the show for me. Daughter & hubby love the Chinese chicken curry.
The portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable and all in all, it is definitely worth waiting a few extra minutes knowing the food you receive has been freshly cooked.
Keep up the good work lads! See you next Easter!

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT SINCE 21ST OCTOBER 2013 we look forward to welcoming customers old and new! at this unique airport where the plane lands on the beach!
Great for all food but especially home made cakes and breakfasts!
Sit in the window and watch the twin otter land on the beach while enjoying a full Scottish breakfast - it's quite a picture!
Fantastic home made cakes ( the lemon drizzle was to die for) and scones the size of houses.
Obviously with a small airport terminal it gets busy when the plane is due so plan carefully.

It's good to see there is investment in this facility. But was disappointed to find it closed. I look forward to checking it out once it reopens.

We had dinner last night. Lovely setting, staff were friendly. Barra fish was tasty but batter tasted odd... touch of curry perhaps it certainly had the colour of curry. Quite disappointing, as so many items of the menu were unavailable.
Was pretty pricy and I'm not sure we thought it was worth the money if I'm honest.

Maggie's Menu offers a simple, tasty, selection of freshly made soup, sandwiches, home baking, scones and refreshments at an affordable price.
Very pleasant cafe - limited menu and no good if you are in a hurry - but we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and scone! thank you Maggie.

Ours is a very small (we like to say compact and bijou), traditional tea room which only serves home made scones and cakes, no sandwiches or hot food. Our scones were recently given a rating of 10/10 by the Sunday Post Scone Spy and we are very proud of this. The tea room came into being as a way of supplementing the Post Office income to ensure it is a viable business for many years to come. We have a visitors book full of very generous and encouraging comments from people all over the world and we appreciate every single one of them. We don't make any fancy claims about what we do, we're just a down to earth Yorkshire couple running a business on a gem of an island, and we're very lucky to be able to do so.
Cosy. No tables when we arrived but a very comfy sofa. Excellent hot chocolate and tea. Prompt and friendly service. Scones to die for!
