This is my favourite restaurant in Hildesheim for traditional German food. Hearty food that is well prepared but beware the large portions for those that prefer a smaller meal. Kid friendly it is a fin place for a family meal. Tania is an excellent hostess with good English. Very good value and do try the schnapps

It was my first trip to Hildesheim and I found that restaurant looking at Tripadvisor advice. That Italian restaurant was just perfect in taste and price. My business partners shared that comment, we were 2 to have a great dinner

Due to the high reputation here on this site we ate here. Food was not disappointing with very good steaks. There is no great flair to the presentation, but this is fine since it is all good food. Service is friendly but mixed – food came super-fast (almost too fast) and then later was really hard to get hold of. Still a very good place, but could use a little touch of quality in the areas other than the steaks.

Restaurant Gildehaus is an appealing contrast of the old with the new. The half-timbered booths are charmingly cosy while the white elements underscore the modern look. These booths are the ideal location for a confidential business meal or a romantic dinner for two. The international cuisine on offer here reflects regional specialities and market-fresh produce: breakfast and lunch buffets, buffet on Sunday, coffee & cake, an à-la-carte menu with a 3-course meal suggestion (all courses can be selected individually), snacks, theme-related buffets and cultural culinary specials. Our menu provides you with an international range of cuisine. In order to offer you a wide variety of different interesting dishes on a regular basis, we adapt our menu to the season up to four times a year. Our beverages menu offers an international range of different beverages and drinks. For more detailed information, please do not hesitate to contact our team at the Restaurant Gildehaus.
First time in Gildehaus and the atmosphere is very nice and its fits to German village. Menu is in my opinion very typical for German restaurant. There is good variation of meat and fish. The most import for the customer is that it taste really good. The service is little slowly but you dont notice that because the atmosphere and good food is to grate.

According to me, it's more a cafe serving some food then a restaurant.
We booked a table at this restaurant as it was close to the hotel we were staying. As of the Christmas market, it was good we booked as the place was packed.
The girl serving us was really friendly and helpful but it seems she was doing all the work herself. She really needed to run from table to table.
The food itself wasn't too bad, but my meat was a bit overcooked. I asked for saignant but according to me it was more well done, lost a lot of it's flavors.
The restaurant was also very noisy.
Recommending it for a snack or quick dinner, not expecting too much.

Delightful small restaurant, very popular with locals, that I found only thanks to Tripadvisor - there's just a small street sign to mark the spot. The menu is limited, but what I ordered (a huge pork schnitzel covered in mushrooms) was excellent. Reception and service were very friendly; and since the weather was fine, I sat outside in the small rear garden, which was especially nice. I don't know how many foreign tourists will find their way here, but if they do, they'll find a pleasant and "typical" German dining experience

When you go visit Alazani restaurant (reservtion might be helpful), the team give you a very nice, short and informative introduction on Georgian eating habits. I.e. it is favorized to bring different dishes to a table from which everyone can take what he likes instead of serving a single dish to everyone. After this the dishes can be chosen and you will find something for everybody, just get a delicious new view on food do to a special treatment with nuts, pomegranate and other typical Georgian ingredients. And don't miss the Georgian Wine!

Having gone to an Indian restaurant the first evening of our two-day stay in Hildesheim, we chose a Turkish place the second evening, and were very glad we did. Kapadokya is outstanding.
We had the Icli kofte, made from ground meat with bulgur, as a starter. One of our main dishes was the Makamali turlu, aubergines with zucchini, potatoes, and tzatziki. The other main dish was the Adana kebap with pommes and yoghurt. Everything had bright flavors and freshness. The red Turkish wine, Pammukale, was excellent too. Service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant was full of regular customers, all warmly greeted like “family.” We highly recommend this place.
