First built in 1854 as a private country retreat and housing an unmissable 200 year old cedar tree in its grounds, tradition and a sense of place are important to both the look and the food at The Cedar Manor Hotel and Restaurant. You will find Cedar Manor offers a seasonally changing a la carte and table d'hote menu of classic British food on which all produce is sourced from providers based in the surrounding Lake District. Open to guests and non-residents, one might want to relax with a book in the cosy hotel bar before taking a seat in the restaurant which has been awarded an AA Rosette for Fine Dining.
Took my partner here for his special birthday. Everything about the experience was fine, from drinks in the bar to the relaxed and intimate atmosphere in the candlelit dining room. Service was high end professional and immaculate. Our food was really very good indeed. I mentioned the special occasion in advance, and we had a discreetly decorated table and a lovely decorated plate from the chef with petits fours. Bravos all round especially to our waiter.

Enjoyed visiting The Old Stamp House and had heard great reviews which were mirrored online. Had the 7 course tasting menu and wine flight as a treat which we enjoyed although didn't come into its own until we got to the fish course. This and those to follow particularly the desserts were outstanding. I'm assuming the gentleman who served our wine was Front of House, his service was of a high standard and he was very passionate about his wine pairing - lovely to see and hear such interest! Some areas which I personally feel need a few tweaks to get up there with the big guys in the area but overall still a good experience.

After menu Reading fatigue whilst trying to choose somewhere to eat in Bowness we happened upon Jackson's Bistro. £15.95 for 2 courses of £18.95 for three seemed great value and the menu was a bit different from the regular pub grub, Italians or Chinese in Bowness.
We weren't disappointed - excellent service, good house wine, some unusual combinations (chicken, Bolognese and parma ham together as a main course was delicious!) and the puddings were the crowning glory! The creme brûlée with bananas was incredible and the home made sticky toffee pudding put Cartmel's offering in the shade. Fab place and would highly recommend. The a la carte menu looked great too so would return to try that on next visit!

The Swallows and Amazons Tearoom & Farm Shop/Restaurant serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. We serve light as well as hearty keep warm meals, homemade cakes, luxury ice cream and hot & cold drinks. We also have a great selection of wine and local Lake District ale for you to enjoy with your meal. The view from the tearoom and beer garden across the lake are sensational, it is no surprise that Bank Ground Farm inspired Arthur Ransome to write Swallows and Amazons during one of his stays. Easily accessible to both cyclists and mountain bikers. Many of Grizedale's routes run close by, so come and boost your energy levels and have a light lunch and cake! Bank Ground is on the edge of the lake, opposite the village of Coniston, so you can even arrive by boat! With a footpath on our doorstep, we are also accessible to walkers too, a mere 25 minute walk from the centre of Coniston! The restaurant is open in the evenings, however it is essential to book in advance as we are not open every evening. Occasionally we host events so please check our website to make sure we are open and avoid disappointment.
My favourite tea room/lunch place in Coniston.
Living locally it's nice to have somewhere that doesn't just offer the standard menu.
The lunch menu is varied and interesting, the cakes are amazing, everything is home made and delicious.
If the sun is shining can sit outside and also enjoy the amazing views across to Coniston and The Old Man, bliss!

Small but quirky cafe home of the giant cakes but also serving full meals from soups to our own cured and smoked meats
Great little cafe. Grilled cheese Sandwich and chips was delicious, albeit larger that I was expecting. That should have been a lesson to us - larger than expected seems to be their thing.
Th'usband ordered the 'small' lemon & blueberry cake as opposed to the other, 'large' cakes.
It was most definitely not small. Delicious, light as air, generally gorgeous...definitely not small, though!
Highly recommended.

A truly traditional Lakeland inn. Good food, real ales, bed and breakfast accommodation and self-catering cottages. A warm welcome awaites at the Kings Arms, Hawkshead, which lies in the heart of the English Lake District in the beautiful. The Inn, on Hawkshead's Village Square, has greeted visitors since Elizabethan times to a place where the pace of life remains quiet and unhurried.
Second time me and my partner have stopped here for something to eat on our walks/hikes. Lovely cosy pub, good comfort food (especially on a cold day) and great service. We ordered the lamb hotpot and Cumberland sausage meals today and were not disappointed, the meals were hearty and filling. We will definitely return again!

Wandered in to this restaurant on a complete whim when on holiday in the Lake District and was surprisingly impressed. They made room for two ramblers that had been walking all day in their fairly posh restaurant without hesitation. The food was lovely, plenty on the plate and at reasonable prices.

Fantastic range of seafood, cooked fresh to order. Menu changes daily depending on what comes in from the local supplier in Fleetwood.
It’s been a while since we visited but a debate over dinner tonight promoted me to write a review. We were discussing the best fish restaurant tonight, and Hooked came up.
Quite simply the food is superb, the service and ambience to match at reasonably good prices. Next time we are in Windermere we will be sure to return. Excellent fresh produce.

Just a five minute stroll from the shores of Lake Windermere. Serving food all day with indoor and outdoor Seating areas
Visit here the end of November, the food was brilliant and the price matched this.
Loved the crown that presented the procesco, this was a lovely touch and I would love one!
We both had a three course meal and thought it was great for the price.
Would visit again and recommend to friends.
Thank you!
