Though not quite your intimate setting, the restaurant offers good quality and we were not hurried up by the staff. A very enjoyable place for dinner, if weather permist on their Terrace which offers a splendid view. Suggestion, in case you like white wine: take the Gerardushoeve house wine (Johanniter), it's fairly good!!

A reunion with special friends. Each course floats on air, is fun, made us smile and tantalized taste buds. The wine is perfectly matched with the cuisine, while at the same time being tailored to individual choice. The atmosphere is discreet and private while attentive and personal. An incredible team creating a memorable, local food and wine experience. I hope to have the opportunity to visit again soon.

The closing night of our weekend away in the province of Limburg we had dinner in the Gezellerie Bel Air in Gulpen. Located on the center square we entered the restaurant on a Monday evening but there were quite some eaters already and we (party of 5) were seated on the first floor at the window where we could overlook the nicely lit square. They had some Monday/Tuesday specials where a free bottle of house wine was given away with every two 3- or 4-course dinners. However they were quite flexible in this as when one wanted a better wine than the house wine the price of the housewine was deducted. We had different dishes and the food was really very good. The Seating was cosy, the servants were nice and not pushy and we really felt well cared after by the staff. So if you want to have a good meal and escape the massality of Maastricht or Valkenburg this restaurant is a very good alternative choice. Free parking in the street and only a very short walk. Well done.

I visited the De Pannekoekenmolen for a light dinner. The place is easily accessible by car, it's about 200 meters from the local main road. It has its own "guests only" parking however it was full upon my arrival. So I parked my car about 100 metres away at the local fire station and supermarket.
The food was excellent, one of the best pannenkoekens ever eaten in the Netherlands.
I had some problems with the waitress: she wanted to add some 8 EUR extra to my bill and shouldn't I have checked it, she would easily make me pay for something I even haven't ordered.
With the exception of this slight issue, the place is great, I can recommend it to everyone!

Bar / restaurant / small hotel, situated adjacent to the Gulpener Brewery, with a unique charm and warm atmosphere in Gulpen. Drinks, lunch, dinner.
Stopped by here just on a whim after hitting the brewery. Waiter was friendly and joking about the fact that he didn't have any English menus available. We knew a few key menu items in Dutch but he was more than happy to help us out and describe the dishes (in very good English). Nice atmosphere, both inside and out - it began to ran about half way through our outdoor meal so they moved us inside. When we asked the bartender about the Mestreechs Aajts beer (local brew sold in Gulpen only) he took us into the their brew room for a look. Very interesting look at the Lambic/Belgian style brewing in a very small setup. We sampled some and it's a bit strong - thus some previous reviews about the beer being "sour," "bitter," and "spoiled." If you're not used to Lambic type brewing, then it is most definitely a kick in the taste buds. As for how it compares to other Lambics? Not too shabby, though I didn't bother to order a second one, I'll stick to dubbels. In my limited beer touring experience, the Gulpener menu has many beers much more suited to whatever you decide to order along with your main course. Give this one a go if you're curious or like Lambics, but I'd say start with it and drink something else with dinner.
As for food, I had the Holland steak with herb sauce (Hollandse biefstuk met kruiden-pepersaus) and it was very good - especially for a "pub."
Around the table we also had the beef stew cooked in a beer/apples sauce (Stoofpotje van rundvlees, bereid met Gulpener speciaalbier ) - very good;
A pork knuckle marinated in their Mestreechs Aajt beer (Spaakhammetje, gemarineerd in Gulpener "Mestreechs Aajt", met stroopsaus) - better than just the beer by itself;
finally, a mixed green salad with two brie coquettes (Maaltijdsalade met gegratineerde Val-Dieu kaasjes) - very good.
By the end of it, all four plates were clean and no complaints. Top that off with several good local beers (all Gulpener, of course) and it was quite good. Never did make it to dessert!
I recommend this place to anyone coming through Gulpener, especially if you had the fortune of getting a tour of the brewery. Short walk around the corner. Again, if you don't like VERY sour Lambic beer, then probably best to stick with the Dort, Pilsners, or Dubbel; all very good small craft beers.

Was here with wife and two small kids. Lunch food was typical Dutch sandwiches but still with a local touch. Super friendly staff. Nice old place that looked like a kitsch museum but with also with nice outside terraces. Kids loved it. Quality vs price is a very good place!

Very friendly multilingual staff, nice dining room, beautiful location but I'd recommend using GPS to get there. The kitchen offers quite traditional food, but is is well prepared and presented. I'd hope they would continue innovating, and I'll certainly return.

As far as the food is concerned, you just can't go wrong here... every bite you take releases a taste explosion on your taste buds. For the food itself I would have rated this review with 6 stars if I could, unfortunately "attitude" gave me a bad aftertaste.
The lady who owns the place seems to think that part of her patrons are total idiots. For this occasion we had a Groupon package that included the meal and a night in a Junior SUITE (yes the voucher explicitly mentioned SUITE). However, when we arrived at the hotel in question (Van der Valk Heerlen), this turned out to be a so called Junior Room... which is smaller than their standard rooms.
Upon arrival I told the owner that I didn't appreciate that, especially since in the e-mails leading to the reservation there always had been a reference to a JR Suite. At first she tried to convince me that in fact a Junior Room is the same as a Junior Suite, since I have some experience with the hospitality industry I let her understand that I'm not the person who can be fooled by such baloney. Then her reaction was: oh well you get spend the night in a nice room with a rain shower, that's a good week-end anyway! That attitude is insulting and terribly arrogant, I would expect more from a Michelin rated restaurant owner.
Lady, take a lesson in humility... patrons pay your bills.

This authentic tavern in the small village of Eys is a (not so hidden) gem! It's full of locals enjoying drinks, food, the fire in winter and the typical hospitality of the Limburg region. The kitchen serves all kinds of local specialties, like 'vlaai', a kind of fruit pie. In summer it has a wonderful Terrace. It's an excellent starting point for hikes in the area, ranging from 2 to 5 hours. Route descriptions are available against €0,20 fee and have been excellently described, including equally nice stops along the way for food and drinks (see: 't Pintje in Mechelen). In the weekend dinner reservation is recommended. Parking is available in the direct neighbourhood.

My friend and I had the 9-courses special dinner. We also ordered the wine pairing, which was offered at a reasonable price. For me, this was the first time I tried a restaurant that was mentioned in the Michelin food guide, and I was very curious to find out the quality of dishes. I was not disappointed as all the dishes was beautifully prepared and was very delicious. The food products were of high-quality and all were fresh - especially the fish dish. I was told that the dishes were inspired by classic French cuisine but with a contemporary twist. The service was impeccable yet friendly.
The restaurant is classicly decorated, mixed with modern furnishings, and very cozy. It is situated at the foot of the Cauberg in beautiful Valkenburg area of Limburg district of The Netherlands. We would certainly return to this restaurant again if we ever come to the Limburg area in the future.
