We were disappointed that our hotel restaurant was closed on Sunday evening, so came here instead.
It was busy on arrival and we hadn't made a reservation, but we were offered a table.
The menu offered German favourites and the wine-list local choices, mainly Reisling white and Spätburgunder red, both fine.
When our dishes were served, they were attractive, well cooked and delicious.
Happy to return and would recommend making a reservation.

While enjoying a Viking River Cruise we decided to take the opportunity to dine off the ship while docked in Rudesheim and we're glad we did. Stadt Frankfurt was recommended and we loved it. The restaurant is tucked back on the lovely streets of Rudesheim. The food was hearty and very good. I opted for the Pork Schnitzel with pepper corn gravy and it was simply awesome. The salads were ample in size and very fresh. We sat outside under a lighted patio, out of the evening rain. Inside, the restaurant was bustling and active with authentic German decoration, tables full of very content and raucous diners. A very memorable dining experience indeed.

We walked in off the street in this cold late October afternoon without Reservations.
We were greeted by a joyful waitress who directed us to a cozy corner by the window on thestreet. The decor is decidly old german country.
The place was almost empty and it took a little while before we were served.
The water and beer came quickly. The soup followed shortly : pumpkin creme, very good and pleasing on this cold afternoon.
The main courses of pork chops (good) and the fried calf liver (very good) were slow to arrive as the place filled up.
Then we ordered the cherry brandy coffee and it came in a hurry. The little ceremony of lighting the brandy before adding the coffee and whipped cream is nice and tasty.
All this for 75us$.
We would definitely go again.

We visited early on a Monday night so we had the whole place to ourselves.
They had both indoor and outdoor Seating, we chose outdoor which was very pleasant.
For four people, we ordered four entrées. In hindsight, we should have only ordered three because the servings were quite large.
The food was rich and tasty. Out of our options we felt the pizza calzone was the best although all the selections were good.
They had both Bitburger and Maisel Weisse Hefe on tap.
We would highly recommend the restaurant as a great value although leave yourself some time to digest your food.
Service was good and relaxed. They accepted American Express as payment.

For chefs Alexander Ehrgott and Martin Beicht, a careful selection of local and seasonal high-quality produce is the basis for a successful menu. If such a selection is combined with international and modern ingredients of premium quality, the result is a multi-facetted and exciting cuisine which is reliable as well as surprising, down-to-earth as well as sophisticated, and classic as well as innovative. And all this is possible because our chefs are true artisans, who work with passion and dedication to detail. They give the same attention to classic regional dishes and rural manor house cooking as to culinary creations with a supraregional and international touch.

Restaurant belongs to the cloister hotel. Great location overlooking a garden and vineyard. Our waitress Laura was exceptional- friendly and gracious.. and ready to help us with some translations on the menu. The food was excellent!! Went well with a bottle of a local (Geisenheim) dry white.

Excellent authentic German food. My husband had Schweinehaxe with Kartoffel Kloessen with beer. I had a chicken breast dinner salad. Both were excellent. We had French onion soup for a starter. I finished with apple strudel and a cappuccino. Highly recommend looking for this restaurant which is a few streets off the Drosselgasse street. Service good and food came quickly. Excellent place.

The best way to get there is by car, as there are not many bus service in that area. However if you come with a public transportation, get off at Geisenheim station and take a bus stopping at the Johannisberg Schlossheide.
This is a winehouse right at the top of the slope of the vineyard. If you sit at the Terrace, you can enjoy the awesome view over the field and far down, the Rhine river. The food is simple but tastes really good. Here you are going to enjoy various wine, the restaurant is run by the winery. You can also directly purchase your favorite wine in a bottle.

The Wingertsknorze (Hard to spell and indeed to pronounce) has recently changed ownership and is now a wonderful place to visit.
The food is good, the proprietress is simply delightful and there are plenty of local wines to choose from. Customers come from a distance, and if you don't book, there is a chance of being turned away.
An advantage is also that if necessary (and if asked to do so) they will provide smaller portions, which is often an excellent idea.
A Wingertsknorz is a bread roll shaped into a knot before baking.( A Vinter's Knot, beloved in the Rheingau) These are on the menu in a variety of forms and are well worth trying. The menu is good, but it will take a while to work your way through it!

Guests experience the great history of the surrounding area throughout the year in the wine tavern of Schloss Johannisberg. The veranda and winter garden offer a fantastic view of the vineyards and the Rhine Valley. The wine tavern is divided into different charming rooms so that the optimum setting can be found for every family party or company event. Popular classic dishes by Gerd Käfer, which harmonise particularly well with the Riesling wine from the vineyard, are served. The cuisine in the wine tavern is ambitious; day-trippers and visitors can also find good, light meals in the wine garden.
Having enjoyed Gutsschanke so much before we brought our visiting daughter and grand daughter after a day in Rudesheim. They were NOT disappointed. My granddaughter enjoyed the Veal Schnitzel from the children's menu. The adults had pike and trout, both baked to perfection. The staff was friendly as usual and the Rieslings did not disappoint. This restaurant can be relied on for good food and a beautiful view and atmosphere.
