This is an excellent example of OberFranken hospitality. They are located on the upper level of the Kellerwald, right at the big bend. The wait staff are very friendly and quick to service. The food is off the chart good. We were a larger group of 17, so we called a couple of hours ahead to reserve space inside the hut as it was getting a tad cold and raining. Inside the hut is cozy, though there are only 3 larger tables and one small side table. I'd say may capacity is about 35 to 40.
The food quality was very high and the portions were huge. Come hungry and go home stuffed... and you will not spend a fortune. The beer is very fresh from their onsite keller, which dates back over 150 years (based on the inscription).
This is not one of the largest kellers in Kellerwald, so make sure you plan ahead to ensure you have a place to sit. It'll be well worth the effort.

Very cozy place, with a squirrel decoration (maybe because of the name). The beer from draft is really good, pils, vollbier or dunkel, all good. The food was also good, beside the small schäufelle, it was delicious, the way I like. Also the curry wurst was delicious... I'll be back for sure.

dont order th pfannchen, everything else is excellent and otherwise very good quality food, regional, with an eye to fresh. American style bar, old wood, dark dining, cozy if you will. eaten here maybe 6 times to include anniversary. wife and i like it alot, though on the pricey side, but the ambiance and quality is definately worth it. no ac for the summer, so sit outside in such a case, not as nice out there though, very average dining experience in such a case, so best to go when temp is moderate.
Pfannchen is an amateur affair, with lower quality ingredients than the rest of the menu and hot and oil being the dominating taste regardless of type.

The Stadtlockal is right in the middle in the pedestrian area of Forchheim.
The food is ok, good beers as everywhere around here, but nothing special.
What makes it an attraction to some people is, that the offer Sky TV in their back room, the only place in the inner city where you can see soccer matches of the 1.st Division in Germany live - then at mosphere is great, especially if the bavarian teams are winning :)

We wandered around town looking for a restaurant, but nothing appealed to us. Then we saw the Michelin awards for the last three years. The prices were just a little more than we had wanted to pay for the noon meal, but we went in anyway. We got the last free table in the house and were not disappointed. The restaurant was very nicely decorated in a clean modern style. The choice of meal was difficult as the two of us were torn among six delicious sounding dishes. My wife took the pork medallions slow-cooked for 36 hours while I chose the wild boar - an old favorite. First, the portions were huge - more than we expected. Second, the presentation was exceptionally pleasing to the eye. Third, both meals were among the best we have eaten anywhere. Add to that extremely friendly and efficient service and you have two people who felt that they had probably stumbled upon the best restaurant in town. They deserve their Michelin awards. I should not say this, but the meals were a bargain!

The small restaurant is located near a vast parking space and easy to reach by car or bike. The atmosphere is classic “Chinese fast food” with cheap decoration, plastic flowers an heavy on the bamboo. The waitress was court and unwilling to swap options in the lunch menu. The menue is very large, actually so large that some dishes appear twice. The food was prepared quite carelessly, part of the sauce was spiced and hot, the other part was nearly without. Overall the restaurant has an aura of “serve as many as possible in a very short timeframe”. Prices are good, the lunch menu is still cheaper and comes with soup or mini spring rolls. There are definitely better asian places.

The location is very calm and easy access. The dishes are very interesting, and the Samosa were amazing, one of the best I have had. The chicken Masala also awesome, the ambience is great with Indian incenses and nice decoration, very cosy. Worth a visit for sure.
