We were hungry after a long drive so we headed for this restaurant not expecting too much. The burgers were okay along with the fries. The fish and chips were fairly good but nothing to write home about, Definitely was an interesting atmosphere with people's review notes and comments stuck to the ceilings and the walls. It did the job of filling us up when we're hungry. Like everything in Cavendish, expect to pay resort area prices.

Serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Daily Ocean View Deck Specializing in Island Seafood, Steaks & Poultry Great Home Cooking & Baking Full Children's Menu Sunday Special - Best Roast Turkey Dinner on PEI Gluten Free Options Available
If you are looking for imaginative cuisine, this isn't your spot. If, on the other hand, you want a great hot Sandwich or a well-prepared chicken dinner, this is a great place. The cavernous dining room offers little atmosphere but that's okay too.

Loved it! We had Cows Ice Cream on the ferry to PEI, on the ferry back to Nova Scotia, in Cavendish, in Charlottetown, in Halifax...wherever we could find a location.
Ice cream never disappoints, but COWS always exceeds expectations. This summer, they had wild blueberries and PEI strawberries....best in Canada!
Be prepared to stand in line though - regardless of location.

The Pearl is located between the picturesque fishing village of North Rustico and Cavendish Beach on Prince Edward Islands North Shore. Once you step foot into this eatery, it becomes apparent why it has become a destination restaurant not to be missed. There is a love of detail that shows up not only in the food, but in the Pearl's ambience as well. The Pearl strives towards excellence, supporting local artists, farmers, fishers and foragers with the philosophy that sharing a meal that is fresh, creative and visual in an inspired setting, is simply the way it should be.
The restaurant is charming but overly dark in that "we want to make you feel this is romantic approach and we think this means you need your cellphone flashlight to fully appreciate our menu". The braised lamb shoulder must have come from an extremely small animal as I had four sugar cube sized pieces of lamb that constituted the main part of my dish. The food was tasty enough but I had to eat lots of bread to supplement the portion size. My wife had the vegetarian medley which she rated as meh..... The waitress said the Knepfle (which originates in Alsace) was similar to Spaetzle. No, they weren't and I know Bavarians who would sue the restaurant for having their famed noodle dish put in even the same sentence with the very mediocre noodles presented that evening. The Beet & Chocolate Brownie dessert was good without being exceptional. They state on their website that the menu is evolving but so was the Dodo and if this restaurant doesn't shift up their game they are destined to go the same way.

The Blue Mussel Cafe is a seasonal seafood restaurant located in North Rustico Harbour, PEI just off the beaten path. We specialize in FRESH seafood and strive to provide food that is as fresh and local as possible. We offer a large variety of delicious and wholesome meals with NO deep fried food. We are committed to offering an authentic PEI dining experience and a view that you will never forget!
Blue Mussel Cafe was recommended to us by our B&B host and we were not disappointed. It was one of the few restaurants on the north shore of PEI that was still open in mid-October. For that, we were thankful. We were also thankful that we got to appreciate the great food and nice views without the crowds that apparently can be found here in high season. I had the Pan-Fried Haddock and my husband had the Bubbly Seafood Bake. Both were excellent. We topped it off with a share of the Chocolate Potato cake. Atmosphere is relaxed and staff very personable.

Our dinner plans crashed at the last minute when our restaurant in North Rustico had to close because of high kitchen temperatures.
Finding a restaurant still open at 8 p.m. in PEI is no easy task. Although Rachel's was supposed to close at 8:30, they were still admitting diners. However, there was an interminable wait to be seated, We had to ask for a beverage menu and selected a wine. " Oh,we haven"t been able to get that wine all summer!" Well, perhaps it should be removed from the list! Our adult son ordered the beef tenderloin. " Oh,sorry, we're all out but strip loin is a better cut anyway!" NOT!
After these initial hiccups, the rest was great. Our waitress was happy and outgoing. Food was VERY good. The crisp crusted bruschetta topped with diced tomatoes, onions and melted cheese resembled a personal pizza. The seafood chowder was exquisite- a rich creamy base full of shrimp, lobster, fish and scallops. The strip loin was perfectly grilled. A side of mushrooms was extra. The pan seared fish was atop a tasty citrus sauce. I loved the seafood casserole- scallops, shrimp, lobster and delicate salmon in a velvety Alfredo sauce topped with crusty cheese from the oven. NO complaints about the kitchen!
To finish,we were unable to resist the chocolate pecan pie which turned into a taffy pull! A really decadent dessert!!

Change in ownership from last visit 2 years ago. Plump moist lobster served with large side of potato salad. Large chunks, not chopped or knuckle meat. Good value for price. Chowder was not as good as expected, otherwise would have received higher rating. Not very hearty. Interior has been updated, but still a casual but spartan decor. Friendly owner and staff.

Well done, Lost Anchor; from our arrival to our departure we had excellent service and delicious food!!! Although very busy, our server, Samantha, was very attentive and helpful making meal suggestions for a GF customer. You made a young girl's day with the Strawberry Buoy dessert, thanks!!!!

Order of 2 burger platters and 2 kids chicken strips took over 40 minutes. When we finally got our food, order was wrong. Burger toppings were incorrect and one platter was to be a poutine, not plain fries. By the time the attendant paid attention to us, fries were cold. They wanted the entire platter back. Took back the platter of now cold food, threw cheese curds on top, then poured gravy all over everything- including the salt and ketchup packets. Really??!?
The burger was actually fairly good. The wait time when it was not busy, and the incredibly poor handling of the poutine puts this place on my never return list.
