With more than 600 miles of coastline, Corsica has beaches to rival the Côte d'Azur. Calvi, in northwest Corsica, blends French style with Italian sunshine. Bask in the sun on a pure white beach that stretches the length of the bay, or explore the medieval Citadel with its unparalleled views and peaceful pedestrian streets. Jazz lovers should plan to visit during Calvi's annual jazz festival in June.

Unfortunately, U Fanale can be described as overrated. We got recommendations from several locals, but the restaurant did not meet any of our expectations. The food was quiet ordinary, mostly hyped and pimped with different condiments, but the basic flavours and extraordinary tastes was missing. We had 2 different fish courses as mains and 2 peculiar entrees of tuna and veal "mash" (in french called) patés... All 4 very ordinary without basic flavours. The best course was the Mousse Chocolate and the wite wine from Clos Colombu. Service was in general not attentive, especially after a while when the place got crowded. All in all, not very impressive, and we suggest you rather spend your money on La Table di a Loghja. Way beyond the level of U Fanale.

We were intending to visit a nearby restaurant but it appeared to be busy with people we were travelling with so went nearby. Not a good move.
It was quiet and we decided to eat inside although offered an outside seat. We did have some problems with the non English(Very little) speaking waiter. I asked for Mussels and was surprised to be told there were none-and this is a fish restaurant. I thought i would try the Fish Soup but this was very thin with little taste but I was given some cheese to go in it. Came with some not very fresh tasteing bread. My wife had Foie Gras which she thought wonderfull and was without doubt the only item served that was good. The main courses of Fish for me and Beef for my wife were just "run of the mill" I expected better in a fish restaurant than what I had. My wife finished with a not very good Panna Cotta and my reasonable bottle of Rose was 23 Euros out of a total bill of over 120 Euros-the most expensive on our tour of Corsica and Sardinia.

The service was deplorable. After waiting for half an hour we complained to the waitress and her answer was 'can you not see how busy we are?' The manageress
seemed to be there just to pose. The food was ok but definitely not what we had been led to expect from the reviews we read - don't know where they came from!

A very nice restaurant located on the front in Calvi. Friendly service throughout by a very capable waitress. I ordered from the Corsican tourists' menu again, but this time went for courgette fritters (delightful, and make sure you're hungry!), followed by a delicious boar canelloni: nice to find an Italian influence on Corsican cuisine, and a chestnut cake (served warm) with Chantilly cream. My partner chose from the à la carte, meats & pâté to start, linguine & octopus to follow. To drink there was a 50cl bottle of good Corsican white, and I had a Pietra ambrée, followed by a Pietra rouge (fruity and recommended with dessert!) Total €66 - recommended.

Definitely go very hungry as the portions are massive. Consider sharing one meal for two people. The food itself was it delicious! They're tiramisu is a must try. They make it in house and it is yummy!! Price are extremely reasonable. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English.

We have had a drink here on numerous occasions during our wonderful holiday in Calvi.
The service has always been welcoming, efficient and genuine - excellent!
The wines are wonderful and with such a massive choice, every pallet will be catered for. We have not eaten here, however, the previous compliments are in abundance - so maybe we will!

Stopped on the way to Calvin for a snack which ended up being lunch. Wonderful crab salad with a beer overlooking large bay 2 metres from water. Fantastic

We have been here with motorcycles. The bay and restaurant is really amazing. The colors are beautiful. The water is clear. A lot of ships coming to this bay. You can have a wonderful meal the the Mar a Beach. Its not cheap, but it is a special location.
